Yes, DW's immediate family is live closely, so we have gather together at my in-law's house. Distribute some money to the youger ones (so I also get one) and parant. Then we have some "family gambling" (dice), my daughter was really into it.

I have 2 cousins live down under. DW has a uncle live part-time in your neighbor country.

Hang on. What do you mean you also get one? I thought it was only distributed to younger unmarried siblings as well as kids. You mean to say my older siblings have been holding out on me all these years?

My understanding is similar to yours expect not just sibling but also close friends. And like a lot of rules, this one can be broke. Also, in a family, the head of household usually give out money to anyone in the family. So I got one from my parent-in-law. And if you are able to afford, then you can give money out to elder that retired and any younger sibling, but it is not a must.
