    Wow, beautiful.

Too bad you don't live closer. I have an old Mustang taking up room in the garage while the car I drive gets parked outside. That Mustangs needs some TLC.

Wife and I (of 35 yrs.) don't see each other too often because the poor girl still has to work and I haven't for a few. So, I've spent this past winter clipping my own toenails. Really, it can be quite entertaining...you know...like where will the clippings fly etc. Thankfully, we're leaving Wednesday for the Caribbian...3 1/2 weeks. I've been saving some toenails for her. LOL

I've been sick this week, so my main pursuit has been trying to breathe and keep the headache and other undesireable symptoms at bay. Lost my voice a couple days ago and have been lucky that most people communicate with me via email anyway.

I've found that work is a lot more fun when you're hopped up on Dayquil.

When winter eases up, I'll be preparing my veggie garden, dealing with the flower gardens, and exterior painting.

                      Frank,
                      That water looks so inviting.
I hope that photo gets a few workaholics to make time for enjoyment.

That said reminds me to water the seeds. Potted a few tomato, bush cucumber. Will wait another week to start a few more.
When earth warms up I hope to plant them all around the property.

What all do you plan to plant?

                        Sorry you are ill.

Thanks, I don't get sick often, so it was my turn.

I always have tomato plants, 2 or 3, always Better Boys and whatever else strikes my fancy that year. I grew Romas one year and they were delightful and many became sundried for enjoyment later. Early Girls didn't do very well. Cherry tomatoes do pretty well but I don't usually actively seek them out.

I almost always plant lettuce and onions, sometimes peppers. Onions and peppers, of course, team with the tomatoes for salsa. Snap peas are a newer addition after I gave up on bush beans, so we've been enjoying them on salads for a few years now. I don't bother with green beans - the bunnies eat too many.

Zuchini if I think I can give enuf away, one year I did pumpkins and am thinking of doing them again, or will maybe do watermelon.

Will never again do corn - takes too long for too little yield and it's too hard to keep the deer away from them. The deer also chow on the tomato plants, but it's more of a pruning than a ruining.

It depends on how much of the plot I can clear as to how ambitious I get. I also have to admit that stress level at work plays into it. The more stressed out I am, the more hard labor I do. This is shaping up to be a hard labor year.

The plot is about 20' x 30' but had never been worked before we moved in and each year I get a few more walnut trees dug out (they are enemies of the tomatoes). I'd like to plant asparagus but need to have the plot be a bit more, um, manageable, since you have to leave them in place for years. One year I had about half the plot cleared (pumpkin year) but that was a while back.

We get wild strawberries and raspberries without any effort on my part, and every other year the walnut tree produces. That worked out well with the pumpkins - pumpkin pie with crushed walnut topping, pumpkin bread with walnuts, on and on, you get the idea.

I'm thinking of brocoli as an early crop with the lettuce. I have not tried it yet so would like to see how it does. Generally it's not until May that it's safe to plant warm season crops. I tried tomatoes from seeds for years and have given up - I'll buy the 6" plants. Same with Peppers.

It's been a few years since I grew herbs but I'm planning on at least a 2'x2' for them this year. I don't want to get too ambitious with those.

There's something about having my hands in the dirt and eating off the land that really grounds me. It's hard work that I find very rewarding. Flower beds, not so much.

Are you exercizing or just going?

YUM - SOUNDS GREAT. ... Onions and peppers, ... tomatoes for salsa. YES!

Snap peas ...been enjoying them on salads...
green beans - the bunnies eat too many. USUALLY AVAILABLE THEN, AT THE MARKET TOO.

watermelon takes too long and too much space.

Will never again do corn - I agree, takes a lot of space for what you get.

...The plot is about 20' x 30' ... Do you have a tiller? I'd like to plant asparagus ... Make a separate place just for that, off to one side of plot. Try rubard there also.

...pumpkin pie with crushed walnut topping, pumpkin bread with walnuts, on and on, you get the idea. Yes I do. Where's mine?

I'm thinking of brocoli ...would like to see how it does. Let us know how deer like it.
... I tried tomatoes from seeds for years and have given up - I'll buy the 6" plants. Same with Peppers. Have to take care and not vacation.

It's been a few years since I grew herbs... Try in pots and move inside for winter, if you have room.
