  • How will you be celebrating Easter, this year?

How are you celebrating Easter this year? Do you have any particular Easter Traditions?

Easter is one of my favorite holidays, because I know that the warm weather is on the horizon.

I always have my family over for Easter, and of course, there is tons of food. I serve lots of h'orderves, and guests bring some of their favorites, as well. We normally have a traditional Italian meal.......Antipasto, Lasagna, Leg of Lamb, and all the trimmings.

My favorite part of the holiday is the morning easter egg hunt, and opening of Easter Baskets. Even though my children aren't young, I still make them baskets, and torture them with an easter egg hunt. DD (19) likes the basket, but usually moans, and groans, when I wake her up to do the hunt. Hey, I don't care, I need to have some fun, too.

Normally, I paint all my eggs, and hide them inside, and outside the house. I also have money prizes, and small gift certificates to local shops like blockbuster, the nail salon, etc.

This year, I'm forgoing painting the eggs, and am going to do them in gold & silver leaf, instead. That's actually a very old tradition of egg decorating, so what the heck.

    How about you?

We are having a family reunion at Whistler for Easter - my DH and I, our daughter and her boyfriend, our son and his girlfirend, and her parents. We have two 2-br condos and the one with the biggest kitchen will host dinner on Sunday. Can't wait!

It will be just family @ our oldest daughter's house in South Ft. Myers. There could be as many as 8 adults and 2 dogs or as few as 5 and one dog! Everyone pitches in by bringing something. Just the fact we are all together is fine with all of us.

This year I will be spending Western Easter with DB and his children. DH will be joining us. I'll flying to BWI on Tueday, 3/18 and DH driving on 3/19. This will be the first actual holiday DB and I have had together in about 15 years.

Orthodox Easter will be at my home with all the Greek relatives. We do the lamb on the spit...all the Greek traditions. We'll have about 30 for the day!

          Angela - I'm with you!

Easter is my absolute favorite holiday.....new life, new beginnings....the Resurrection, church, flowers, egg hunts. I'm into the whole shebang! I started working on the contents for our little girl's Easter basket months ago. Her Dad and I give the basket, the "bunny" steals her eggs and hides them inside and outside, so we hunt with coats over pjs before heading off to church. This weekend I need to get the egg dying supplies so we are prepared!

Our church has a wonderful tradition called "the living cross" which is a huge cross (7ft or so tall)covered in chicken wire. Everyone brings fresh cut flowers and places them in the wire. By the time everone is finished you can't see the wood or the wire, just beautiful spring flowers in the shape of a 7 foot cross. An easter egg hunt is hosted after the service. Then off to brunch.

My MIL and BIL will probably be joining us this year (if they would just hurry up and let us know when they are coming I could actually make reservations). Since it is just the 3 of us usually, we go out for Easter. In future years I would like to fancy-up that tradition and plan an annual trek to The Fountain at the Four Seasons. Their Easter brunch is supposed to be incredible. Too late for reservations this year.

Anyway, I'm excied......it doesn't get better than Easter!

Sounds like a great plan to me, enjoy!!!!

Wonders will never cease! As it turns out, I just got a call from my BIL, and they are insisting that we have Easter by them. (Bang) That's the sound of me hitting the floor. Anyway, I spoke to my family, and we decided that we'll have two Easter celebrations this year......Since we've never been to their home for a holiday, we're not sure that we can trust them in the food department.

We're gonna have Easter at my house on Saturday, and then go to their home on Easter. Should be a fun weekend.

Who knows? I wouldn't be shocked if we received a call with some kind of excuse before Easter. Doesn't matter, we'll be thoroughly prepared for Easter at my house.

In the past several years we have been in either Washington DC or Myrtle Beach for Easter and the week after. This year we are staying home because we will be traveling more this summer. There are a few things that need to be done around the house. Of couse we will have ham and the trimmings for Easter lunch after morning church. We will also attend Sunrise service and have breakfast afterward with the others that attend. Sunrise service is my favortie part of the day.

Our Easter is going to be the smallest ever. Mom, my sister, 13 yr old nephew and me. DS and his family are going to Iowa to visit DIL's siter and then to Indiana to visit my ex. Other sister has to work and the rest are too far away. It's going to be soooo boring!

I will be thanking the Father for His Son, and thanking the Son for His sacrifice.

We'll just be heading to church on Good Friday and then Sunday morning church as usual. The kids get some Easter chocolates and we make hot cross buns together.

                              That's it. Nice and relaxing.

We've never done the extended family Easter thing. That's a totally foreign idea to us.
