  • HGTV Dream Home- They Have A Winner- Did It Seem Kind Of Staged To You?

Dream Home : Dream Home 2008 : Dream Home 2008 Sweeps Main : Home & Garden Television

Ok so Once again I stayed up until 10:00 (late for me) watching the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway thinking they could be ringing my doorbell at any moment.
Well it seems just like last year when the winner was at a restaurant with his family and his son was already informed that he won, this years winner was already informed that she won as well!
You could tell that they were not really surprised. They were having a faux Birthday party, and had friends and relative at their home on a Sunday nite for a party? Oh please! Who is HGTV kidding? I will not be fooled next year. Yes I will enter ( of course I want to win) but I won't watch the stupid show to increase their ratings!

This year I entered almost everyday. My eight year old daughter was convinced we were going to win. I explained the taxes issue to her so she had us selling the house right away and putting $500,000 in our pockets. She then insisted that each member of the family (5 of us) would each get $100,000. She planned to take her friends shopping.

That's another thing...last year and the years before the Dream Home came with $200K cash (before taxes) this year it did not. That would have certainly helped the winner pay for taxes for a long, long time. Wonder why they did away with the cash this year?
It almost guarantees the winner will have to sell it in order to actually win anything.

Are you kidding? Were they supposed to be surprised? I have been more joyously surprised finding a ten dollar bill lost in the couch. The lady was more concerned about the placement of her hair. By the time she actually crossed her arms and started to look bored, I could no longer watch.

I just finished watching the video clip. It has to be staged. First warning sign: The door was open and the announcer just walked right in. Second: The "birthday" party. (What a coincidence). Third: The winner (or her family, for that matter) wasn't excited at all. The winner looked drunk and incoherent when the announcer gave her the news. Too much partying already??

If it were me... I would be crying, screaming, and jumping up and down. Then again, I'm an emotional person.

This winner's attitude was a major disappointment.

That was really weak. They didn't even try to pretend to be surprised.
