  • T/S Vacation Interruptus

OK...I'm not going to use this forum to whine, but I sure could use a good laugh. Since my Florida vacation at my fave timeshare resort HGVC South Beach was so rudely interrupted by a torn and detached retina, I wanted others to share any of their own t/s interruptus experiences. Has anyone else had their long-planned trips aborted and had to return home for emergency surgery or any such life event? No hurricane stories please as we've all had to deal with those lately, or so it seems!

Share your stories here, and if you can be funny, all the better!

Wowey, I had no idea that that happened to you Carol. What an absolute bummer.

Well, you've read my brief 2 day stay at a resort over Christmas where I ended up with bites all over from bed bugs and an allergic reaction. We had been so looking forward to that week and spening it with our kids best friends' family who was staying in the unit next to us.

Funny? Well if the thought of someone covered in lumpy, inflamed bites and wrything in agony from the itchiness is funny, then I guess I'm ROTFLMAO.

A torn retina requiring surgery is worse though. What happened, if you don't mind me asking. Or is it elsewhere in the forum?

      Syd,

Torn and detached retina can come from trauma. I fainted back in Oct and maybe hitting my head started the downward spiral. I'm also tall and klutzy and hit my head getting into the lil car and I've been in a few whiplash car wrecks and then there was that pulmonia ride in Mazatlan when we got rear-ended by a truck. But risk factors for retinal detachment are also: age over 45, nearsightedness, female, and a relative that had a torn retina. I have had all those pre-conditions, plus whack my head now and then, so...there you have it! Thanks for asking! And sorry bout those bed bugs...cooties are never any fun! They make impossible so it's for sure!
