    My Valentine (Matine McBride)

YouTube - My Valentine - Martina Mcbride

We got married on Valentines Day at the Martha Mary Chapel and The Wayside Inn in Massachussetts. It was an evening, candlight ceremony.

    So romantic!
The problem with real life is that there is no background music.

      That is sooooo beautiful.
I used to pass sort of by it every day to work. I could see the Grist Mill from the Boston Post Road (Weston - Marlborough).

Thanks Beags. It was so memorable. We then went there for dinner on our anniversary every year till we moved. We can't wait to take the children.
All our friends and family have told us that it was one of the most beautiful weddings they have ever been to. We just loved it because it was so simple yet elegant. We loved the period details. We even stayed in one of the supposed haunted rooms! heh heh

We had a lovely garden reception at an historic home on Olde Towne, Virginia. Our little orchestra played "Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman" by Bryan Adams......still makes my heart flutter to hear it..... - We waltzed under a tent overlooking the garden and gazebo below *sigh* - 11 years this May. Sometimes I want to just wring his neck, but I'm happy with our decision to get married and can honestly say, in spite of the frustration and occasional pain, that I would, in fact, marry him all over again........

"Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman" - Bryan Adams

            To really love a woman
To understand her - you gotta know it deep inside
Hear every thought - see every dream
N' give her wings - when she wants to fly
Then when you find yourself lyin' helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman

When you love a woman you tell her
            that she's really wanted
When you love a woman you tell her that she's the one
she needs somebody to tell her
            that it's gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really
            - really really ever loved a woman?

            To really love a woman
            Let her hold you -
til ya know how she needs to be touched
You've gotta breathe her - really taste her
Til you can feel her in your blood
N' when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
You know you really love a woman

            When you love a woman
you tell her that she's really wanted
When you love a woman you tell her that she's the one
she needs somebody to tell her
            that you'll always be together
So tell me have you ever really -
really really ever loved a woman?

You got to give her some faith - hold her tight
A little tenderness - gotta treat her right
She will be there for you, takin' good care of you
Ya really gotta love your woman...

Then when you find yourself lyin' helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman
When you love a woman you tell her
            that she's really wanted

Just tell me have you ever really,

YouTube - When I'm With You - Sheriff

"When I'm With You" was my first. Chosen by the DJ, but it was perfect. We received so many compliments and it is still the most beautiful wedding I've been to, even if I was in it.

Funny and appropriate that the song is by Sheriff, as it was in fact a shot gun wedding.

That was my junior prom song. I still get sentimental every time I hear it.

Mine was also "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers. (There are apparently something like several hundred musical groups who have recorded that song, but The Righteous Brothers had the biggest hit with it.)

I was lucky; DH & I had a very nice wedding, and we have an even better marriage. The only problem with the wedding was that I was so exhausted (to save money, I was trying to do all sorts of things myself, from all the floral arrangements to cooking the rehearsal dinner) that I was in a daze the whole time.

We didn't really have a wedding. Long story, but we have been married 35 years as of 3/23/2008!

Our daughter was married almost four years ago, and Rick is a fireman (you know that), and he is the lead singer in a rock band called "9's a Pair" with a bunch of firefighters (musical talent abounds in Rick's family). Rick also is the lead singer and soloist at our church. Anyway, our daughter arranged for one of my longest and dearest friends to sing for her wedding, and Rick was having a good time harmonizing during the practices with my friend and the pianist. Laura asked Rick to consider singing the song as a duet with my friend, and he finally decided to do it, though he was very worried that he would cry like a baby. He didn't cry until he was sitting down beside me, then everyone around us had to pass the kleenexes.

This is the song he sang with Sandy, and it was absolutely beautiful.

                        How Beautiful
                        By Twila Paris

How Beautiful the hands that served
The Wine and the Bread and the sons of the earth
How beautiful the feet that walked
The long dusty road and the hill to the cross
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

How Beautiful the heart that bled
That took all my sins and bore it instead
                        How beautiful the tender eyes
That choose to forgive and never despise
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

And as He lay down His life
                        We offer this sacrifice
That we will live just as He died
                        Willing to pay the price
                        Willing to pay the price

                        How Beautiful the radiant bride
Who waits for her Groom with His light in her eyes
How Beautiful when humble hearts give
The fruit of pure love so that others may live
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

How beautiful the feet that bring
The sound of good news and the love of the King
How Beautiful the hands that serve
The wine and the bread and the sons of the Earth
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ.

Our daughter's choice for her father and daughter dance was What a Wonderful World

Judy, I had to ask my (very new) wife if we ate. She said that she thought we did. Yup, dazed and confused.

I think it is cool that you did your own flowers. I used to own a floral shop, and I did not do my own flowers.

You did a lot of work. You put it together, did what you want to could and made it yours, and those are your memories for years to come.

During the middle of our wedding ceremony our pastor stopped and handed my wife a microphone. To my total surprise, she sang "From this Moment On" by Shania Twain (in front of a few hundred guests). Now, I generally consider myself to be pretty composed, but I could barely make it through that without melting down. I still get emotional when it comes on the radio. I'm a lucky guy!

                              From This Moment On

(I do swear that I'll always be there.
I'd give anything and everything and I will always care.
Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow,
for better for worse, I will love you with
                              every beat of my heart.)
From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
                              From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love I'd give my last breath
                              From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
                              From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love
And you're the answer to my prayers from up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
