I'm not sure, but I think Mary Jane might know. I'd look it up for you but I've got something boiling in a pot. Plus there's this big weed, I've been trying to pull from my garden and don't even get me started on my grass. It looks like something you would find in Jamaica.

420 (cannabis culture)
From Wikipedia
Santa Cruz 4/20 celebration at Porter Meadow on UCSC campus in 2007
On April 20th 2007, at 4:20pm PST more than 700 people gathered at City Hall in Victoria, BC to celebrate Victoria's 10th annual 4/20 celebration. Victoria police were not visibly in attendance[1]
Statue of Louis Pasteur, at San Rafael High School.4:20 or 4/20 (pronounced four-twenty) is a term used in North America as a discreet way to refer to the consumption of cannabis and, by extension, a way to identify oneself with the drug subculture around cannabis. Phrases such as "420 friendly" sometimes appear in roommate advertisements, indicating that the current occupants are tolerant of cannabis users.[2]
Origins and observances
Although many diverse theories exist to explain the origin of the term, one central root of the phrase stems from a group of teenagers at San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California in 1971; the teens would meet after school at 4:20 p.m. to smoke cannabis at the Louis Pasteur statue.[3][4] The term became part of their group's salute, "420 Louis!",[5] and became popularized in the late 1980s by fans of The Grateful Dead.[6] Many North American cannabis users continue to observe 4:20 as a time to smoke communally. By extension April 20 ("4/20" in U.S. dating shorthand) has evolved into a counterculture holiday, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis.[7][8][9] In some locations this celebration coincides with Earth Week.[10][11][12]Angela

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

For better or worse, the celebration in our little hometown has really, ahem, died on the vine.

Happy Anniversary Jackie!!!!
420 415 up, 369 down
The term 420 is used widely in Cannabis culture as a time to get high, a national day to get high, and cannabis itself.
There are a lot of different theories about how the word was first invented:
:: San Rafael theroy ::
In the early 1970's, a group of teenagers who attended San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California used to get high every day at 4:20 in the afternoon under the Louis Pasteur statue.
:: Bob Dylan theroy ::
In Bob Dylan's song, 'Rainy Day Women #12 && 35,' the lyrics contain 'everybody must get stoned.' 420 comes from the title, as 12 * 35 = 420.
:: Highway 420 ::
In Ontario, Canada in the 60's, marijuana grew freely on one of the Highways. This highway was later renamed in 1972 as Highway 420.
:: The Date 4/20 ::
April 20th is coincidentally (or not..) the birthday of Adolf Hitler who was born on April 20, 1889. It is also interesting to note that the Columbine High School shootings also occured on this date in 1999.
There are many other theories that have been debunked such as the Bob Marley theroy and the Police Code theroy.What I once considered boring, I now consider paradise.
