Didn't you know that duct tape is the universal cure-all?

This is great to remember! I guess my dad lied to me about it years ago when it was brought up.

He told me you put the tape over my mouth so no one hears me scream then just cuts it off.

I haven't looked at the studies on this recently, but when I last checked duct tape was as effective as any other method for wart removal. (No one method gets rid of warts permanently more than about 1/2 the time.) That said, sometimes it does take more than a week or so. The key is to keep the wart covered at all times. This helps to keep the wart moist and to "suffocate" it. It can also help to remove the tape every few days and replace it, this tends to irritate the skin and activate the body's own immune response. This response must be activated to prevent warts from returning since they're actually viral infections. Every treatment for warts (plantar or otherwise) acts by trying to stimulate the immune response and to "debulk" the wart.
