Need some words of advice

I don't think that means that you will definitely sit on the jury. I was in the jury box for a long time before I got bumped last time. Others came on and were bumped and they left me alone for a long time. I thought for sure I was on it. Then out of nowhere, the prosecutor excused me. When I left, it was the afternoon of the second day and there were only 10 of the original 60 jurors left. When I reported back to the jury room, the lady told me she was sending 60 more over! I think the only reason I was bumped was because my pastor was also in the jury box and I answered (honestly) that I might be uncomfortable deliberating with him on a murder trial. They kept him, believe it or not. He told me it took two full days to pick the jury.

What kind of trial is it? The one I was (almost) on was a murder trial, so they may have spent more time than usual on jury selection.

This is a federal case which involves 26 charges of fraud, I don't think I should get more specfic but I sure hope they don't go thru each individually or I'll be there until Christmas.

If you get picked (not eliminated) to serve on a jury, my experience is that the easiest part is finding someone guilty or not guilty. The hardest part is the sentencing.

I have served on 5 juries and it was the sentencing that was the hardest part to decide.

What is it about some people that makes them get picked for juries all the time? Most people I know have never actually served on a jury, yet there were some people who were at jury duty last time I was there who had served on 5, 6, 7 juries. You must look like a very fair person!

Oh, wouldn't it be just great if it was a timeshare developer who defrauded buyers !!

In my experience, usually I have been sitting around a bunch of nutty people who get struck and invariably, I'm left there.

When your jury panel goes in, if you are at the end of the panel, you have less chance of being "selected." If you are in the front 1/2 of the panel, and you are sitting around a bunch of nuts and you look somewhat normal, you're probably going to be left on the jury.

Today was spent in the courtroom, so we couldn't walk around, go outside, read or talk. Same old boring questions. I love the judge. He is soft spoken and has a great sense of humor. A few more got elininated today and a few more were chosen. So far there are 30 prospective jurors siting in the jury box and about 25 who are still waiting to find out where they stand.

We were given a personal questionaair today to read ou loud, re family history, occupation of children, what newspapers we read, etc. Only 5 got to read them today before end of day. Rest of us read them tomorrow, judges questions are finished, lawyers questions come tomorrow and hopefully final jury will be selected. Have no idea how many of the 30 they will keep.

If eliminated, they must call after 5 PM on Friday to find out what they do on Monday. If I have to serve I hope I stay on this one so I don't have to go thru all that BS again.

No more jury duty this week after tomorrow so I'll write the final chapter tomorrow night. I should know by then whether I stay or go.

MY eyes are looking much better, just itch like crazy. I'm still putting drops in every couple hrs and ointment at bedtime.
