Good for you. Keep that old girl going! By the way, that's what I call my old car (my old girl).

Yay! Too bad about not meeting THE Click and Clack personally, though.

The Brothers, Click & Clack, are out promoting their new show, "As The Wrench Turns", seriously, this is what I was told.
Click & Clack's As The Wrench Turns | PBS So, did not see them, but will return to the "Good News Garage" from now on. Treated well.

So, got the car done today. $857. 32 for a new manifold cover, some pan screws (which beats the $2700 screwing that I almost got ! Can I say that ?), some clamps, bolts, etc.

Got my old jalopy running again and hopefully, won't have to be wedded to a car payment for a little while longer.

          Yippppeee!

It was touch & go there for a while. Thought I'd have to drive her to Lourdes !

Once you find a good independent mechanic, keep him. We have one too. I needed hoses once for the VW GTI and VW wanted over $300 which I thought was ridiculous for a few hoses so I called around and found this guy who did it for $60 and we have used his garage ever since. Your car will run for quite a while longer now and you have no payments.

Our old clunker needed an $800 repair today, too. But I think the last big repair (the catalytic converter) was over a year ago. I'm not looking up the records, though. Tra la la.

My independent mechanic had been really good until this episode. Often times my "check engine" light would go on and I'd bring the car into him. Usually it was just a valve stuck open or something minor and never more than $40 .

I wonder what happened, but won't go back. Curiosity killed the car .

The problem with real life is that there is no background music.

                            HA!
Wish I was there for that one! Got pics of the parade from my friends though! Awesome!
No, just doing the summer FUN vacation stuff with the kids. Yesterday we went to the local waterpark ALL DAY! Yikes. I think I need to go back to work to get a break HA HA.
We actually had to buy a new car because my minivan was not as lucky
But I'm happy to say the negotiations went well and I got a Pacifica. (love it!) It's so smooth and has 3rows of seating, decent mileage and not so mini van-ish. Feeling safer driving all the kids around town in a vehicle that you know won't break down every 5 minutes!
