Moving a refrigerator--can you lie it down?

The links are saying that you should really try to avoid lying refrigerators down, period--that precious fluids (the coolant? the oil? no one seems entirely sure) can leak out. They agree that if you have to do it, you should wait 24 hours before plugging the refrigerator in.

Precious fluids??? Isn't that what General Jack Ripper was obsessed with in Dr. Strangelove? Maybe you'll be fine as long as the freezer doesn't contain any strange vials??

It was "precious bodily fluids" in Dr. Strangelove. I'm learning to stop worrying and love the refrigerator.
