  • Heirloom Tomato seeds anyone?

I got very lazy last year and just grew veggie plants that I picked up already started at costco.

Probably the WORST tomatos I've ever gotten out of the garden. Tasteless.

Never doing that again. I missed my brandywines fresh from the garden with some salt!

I usually save my seeds from my heirlooms to grow the next year but I don't have any now. It is almost time to start seeds here in NY. I'd like to get them set right before I leave for Arizona so they germinate while I'm gone.

I figured I'd ask if any of you have any heirloom seeds to share before I order from Sheppards or Parks.

I've been too lazy to grow tomatoes from seed the last 10 years, but I do remember how nice it was to have 6 or more varieties growing. It was also rather difficult to pick and give away all those darn tomatoes. Lately I've just been buying 4-10 plants every year and transplanting some of all the seedlings (most grape tomatoes) that come up. I do miss the yellow pear, pimento and caro reds.

I love home-grown tomatoes, but the darn deer eat everything around here. (I know I can set up big wire mesh around the plants, but my neighbor did that last year and got black snakes stuck in the holes of the mesh. Ewwwww....
