But I hate it b/c it doesn't have a heated drying cycle and needs Rinse Agent. Makes for a weird smell that I don't like - part mildew/part chemical. It runs so quietly, though, it's miraculous.

Maybe if I'd gotten something higher up in the line (I got a fairly basic one) it'd have heated drying, but I think the european brands are moving toward phasing that out for energy conservation reasons. I'd rather have dry, clean smelling dishes.
You, with the olfaction issues again

I like my Kenmore. It's middle of the road..has "Quiet Guard" and it really is quiet. Also has the heat drying that I can turn on or off.

I don't remember what brand of dishwasher they used at the FSA but it was LOUD! I was surprised. Guess they had to skimp on the DW after they put in the bathroom mirrors

Well kids I'm back home from Italy safe, sound. and broke; and now must pay attention to a few details that came on return.

First up on the attention list. A new AC, and that's not an Accomodation Cert. Yes ours died while we were gone and 19 year old son had no inkling that it wasn't working??.

Current model is a Lennox. Came with house when we bought it 13+ years ago. It is 20 years old. Called the repair guy, time for a new one.

Also had to renovate left elbow and wrist today to take care of faulty fingers that cause all my typos. I love Percocet, why they didn't give me that, I dunno.[/quote]

I have a Maytag that is about 12-15 years old and except for one recall and one warranted repair it has been great. Last year, when I needed a new one for our condo I wanted Maytag, but Whirlpool had bought them out and local appliance store didn't have any Maytag at that time, so I bought a middle of line Whirlpool. It is fairly quiet and so far so good.

ps. Over the years I've had about every brand and really no great preference.

I have a KitchenAid...it needs to be fixed, it runs fine in the longer cycle. Fairly quiet, does a good job cleaning.

OK 2 votes for GE. Over here by the Hudson river GE is frowned upon though for PCB dumping.
We have had two Maytags in this house and like the way you arrange the dishes. When we are in a timeshare, I often have difficulty loading the dishwasher. The new Maytag is a lot quieter than the first one.
