Making vacations a shorter drive

A friend of my wife's just bought an RV and are off on their first vacation to Lone Oaks. It's about and 8 mile round trip ! One way to save gas. I was out in the back yard listening to their live concert earlier this evening while I was gardening.

Last night on the news, they had a reporter at a local state park campground. One of the people said that they normally go to Lake George to camp, but it's probably a 3-4 hour trip each way so they're staying locally. You know, a campground on a lake is almost as good one place or another.

The RV'ers are getting killed. Think about a 100 gallon diesel tank (that's right, over $500 to fill it), with horrible mileage...
