  • Kelli's purse stolen -- mean people

Last night Kelli & a coworker met me at the fair. We wanted to go see Bucky(former American Idol) We had a blast , concert was great, that was , until they were getting ready to go home. They had parked in the Goodwill parking lot and locked their purses in the trunk. When they opened up the trunk Kathy's purse & Kelli's was gone!!! Luckily for Kathy she had her drivers license and credit cards with her but everything else was gone. Kelli's money, $60, and her brand new Nintendo DS lite was gone. (along with 8 games) Today we had to go get another id made and I bought her a new Nintendo system and more games as we are leaving Sat for the Poconos.

Good news is Kathy's insurance will pay for it but the bad thing is now the girls feel scared and violated. Police say there is a rise in robberies with so much economic stress. Why do people have to be so dang mean!!!

Sorry for their loss ~ and that they were subject to such downright meanness. I guess these times really do bring out the worst in people. I'm glad no one was hurt ~ that it was only things that can be fixed. What an inconvenience though.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Concert. Don't let the B******* Win!! Forget about them!! Have a great Vacation!!

That's so sad, to take it from a car's trunk.
I'm thinking that you can't lock anything in front of anyone's prying eyes, if you want to put things in , do it before you get where you're actually going to be parking.

On a happier note ,enjoy the trip and the vacation. It will be interesting to get your impressions of NYC.

That's terrible! Did they pry the trunk open? What a pain. Sorry this happened to you and Kelli and Kathy....

Sorry to hear that, it's a shame. I'm glad to hear that the insurance company is going to reimburse you, tho.

My DD always leaves her bag in the car, and I'm constantly warning her not to do so. I will know tell her this story, and hope that it will finally sink in.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

In our days of garage-sale-ing, my MIL taught me that you always put your purse in the trunk as you LEAVE somewhere, not when you get somewhere.

This is the worst ! Sorry that Kelli had to have this happen to her.

Warning: I had my bag lifted at the movies when I was her age. I placed it on the floor near me and when the movie was over and the lights came on,
              gone !
The manager said that this had happened before. Apparently there are folks who are slight of hand who sit behind and with a coat hanger (or other) pull it under your seat towards them while you're away getting popcorn, etc.
Would've been nice if he had posted a warning or if my boyfriend was a tad observant.

Sorry that happened to you and Kelli, Shaggy. Unfortunately this sort of thing is happening way too much now.

We had some friends who went shopping at Coconut Point Mall and bought quite a lot (about $200-$300) and put them in the trunk. When they came back everything was gone. The police said this is happening a lot and the next time they put something in the trunk...MOVE the car to a different location. People watch for this and take advantage of the situation. The gals did return to the store and inform the clerks, in case the thieves tried to return the goods for cash. And they informed their credit card companies of the theft.

Don't know the validity, but have heard lurking thieves can pick up the signal of your lock/unlock code when you activate the keyring button.

The suggestion is to place things in the trunk before getting to where you are parking for an event.

Lock the vehicle manually rather than transmitting a signal from the button.
