  • neighbor blowup his turkey

I came home today and found out that my next door neighbor blowup his turkey. He told me the fire went up 20 to 30 feet. The good thing was no one was hurt or the houses did not burn down.

I will make another post on this later but the answer may be the new Charbroil Big Easy Turkey Fryer
I found one of these at Orchard Supply Hardware and told the guys at the office I subcontract through. They bought one and we cooked a pork roast then a chicken in it they were very good. Then the owner of the company I work out of took it home and said the brined turkey he cooked out of it was the best they ever had and he has fried them in PNUT oil for years. IT was better, not cooked in oil, less mess and cooked in about 10 minutes per pound for a (14 lb turkey it was about 140 minutes) He said for 3 holidays he would pay for it by not buying the pnut oil

So ,did your neighbor do something wrong, or is the Charbroil Big Easy Turkey Fryer defective in this case? I always wanted to try a deep fried turkey and was thinking about getting this one. Now I'm not so sure...

Looking at the pictures I have an image of a deep fried turkey being blasted heavenward. Maybe the people on the International Space Station can keep an eye out for it.

My next door neighbor had aluminum foil around the pot and around the flame, due to a windy day. He was trying to keep a temperature of 350 degrees. Some oil boiled over the pot onto the flames, then the whole dam pot exploded into a ball of fire; sending hot scalding oil 20' into the air. So, the darkness that surrounds the pot, is the hot scalding oil that blew up & out from the pot!!! Hopefully this explains it... Like I said, luckily no one was standing near by, nor got hurt.

You can also light a barbecue in two seconds using liquid oxygen.

So how did the turkey taste? Was it tender? Gamey perhaps?

This was not cooked in A Charbroil Big Easy.

The Charbroil Big Easy uses no oil and is fairly easy to clean up. It uses propane for infrared heat. I think it is pretty safe especially when compared to dropping a turkey in a pot of very hot oil. The guy I work with said it was the best he ever fried and he used the oil fryers for the last few years. I dont see any safety issues with the Charbroil that would be worse than a traditional BBQ.
