I bet it was this.
YouTube - Holiday Light Show to Trans Siberian
Some people are rigging up their houses with elaborate light shows...usually coordinated with the music of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. If you go to youtube, you can see at least a dozen different houses! I wish the quality was a little better on this video, but it's the original video of this kind of thing, and I think the light show is one of the best.

Some people have it set up so you drive past their house and put your radio on a preset station, and then the show starts so you can listen to the music without making the neighbors crazy.

I have quite a display every other year but no sync, yet but I am working on that. Actually I do some stuff with X10 controllers but to really get it going you need a dedicated board or 2 in the computer that can control several circuits each. I say every other year because my wife loves the "country" look of just white lights outside and single candles in windows and I am more the "carnival look" type so we alternate every other year. One year it is colored lights, blow up snowmen and bears, lit santas and reindeer and assorted other creatures and the next very calm twinkling white lights. I think for a few years the neighbors used to think that the house sold each year!!! lolken H.,Ballston Lake, NY

You guys sound exactly like me, and my DH. Only, your DW is much nicer than I am......I don't even allow red or green decorations for Xmas. All my decorations are the same colors as my room decor, mixed with silver, white, or gold. I also like simple, little white, non blinking lights.
My DH likes red, and green, and multi-colored lights that blink.
We have some boxes of decorations marked "DH," and he brings them to his office, and puts them up there. Last year, he managed to sneak in a red, and white candy can striped light, and put it around a pole outside.....I let it slide. Big mistake. This year, we have two of them. lolAngela
