Animal abuse/ Pug/ I'm having nightmares

I heard on our local news the worse case of animal abuse and I can't seem to get over it. The images will come to me at the oddest times, even when I'm happy. As you know I own 2 pugs which I love with all my heart.

Some mean person robbed a 78 year old lady (she was not home) and when she got home she saw the mess he left and couldn't find her Pug, her companion. She went into the kitchen and found the oven on and a chair laid back under the handle so he couldn't get out. He was at the door trying to get out ( I won't get any more graphic. ) They caught the robber and he said he threw him in the oven because he was scared he was going to bite him!!!

A pug breeder has offered her another pug for free but she is not ready yet. Everytime I look at monkey & mater I see that poor little puppy trying to get out of the oven. How can people do such a thing ? I know with time I will get over this as I did when an arsinest (sp) caught my house on fire and didn't let my cats out. He killed my 2 cats. That was in 1982 .

Didn't mean to get so emotional over this but I needed to vent this somewhere. I have chosen not to tell Kelli. shaggy

A horrible story and if you dwell on it it can make you sick.

Such "humans" have no feelings and no respect for life - human or animal. had the old woman been home the story may have been far worse (not that it isn't bad enough already).

Our animals depend on us for their lives. Stories like that or the one where a dog was left to die of starvation in a cage with a bag of food just inches away are horrifying. Those same people may turn out to be child abusers or worse. Too bad laws and enforcement simply can't control these types of things - hopefully those responsible will be treated to the utmost strength of the law for their crimes. Too bad THEY can't be locked in a cage or oven to see what they put an innocent life through. Hug your animals (and your kids) tonight and promise to do your best to protect them. It's all we can do.

Shaggy, I know just how you feel. Every time I read about animal abuse (or child or adult abuse) I wonder too, "how could someone do something so terrible?" A long time ago I made up my mind that I could not save every dog (since I'm a dog lover), but only care for those who are closest to me.

If I see any animal abuse, I will, and have, called animal control. I worked for a Vet for a year and saw some horrible things that bothered me for a long while. That really broke my heart, but at least the Vet did what she could for those animals.

Shaggy, what an awful story. The best thing for you to do is change the TV channel or turn it off when they announce that a story like that is coming. That's what I do now and also when they announce a story about child abuse.

How awfult too that someone burned down your house and left the cats in it too. I wonder often how parents feel who have raised children like that. What went wrong in that family as it was hardly ever their intention to raise a monster or criminal.

In the case of my house it was a 13 yr old kid walking thru my yard from school. Back then, if there wasn't a witness (my neighbor saw it but didn't want to get involved) and the parents refused to let the police talk to their child nothing could be done. The laws are not that way anymore. shaggy

It is good you can vent. Don't keep that stuff inside of you.
