Oooooh I wish I had more time and $$$

We are scheduled for a week at OKW in Disney in March, then down to our wonderful home resort OceanWatch in Myrtle Beach at the end of July and I think that is going to be IT for this year. Last year I blew it out with 2 weeks of adventure travel in Peru....hoping to the Northern European 11 day Disney Cruise in 2010. Until then....living vicariously!

Unfortunately, I only have 4 weeks vacation each year. For 2009, Aruba is booked (Surf Club t/s) for 2 weeks in May and Russia just got booked for Sept...soon to cease to exist Marriott Rewards package for 7 days in St. Petersburg and MAR hotel points for 5 days in Moscow. And somewhere, a long weekend at Newport Coast.

Is Marriott ending some of the Rewards packages? I used Marriott Points for all of our hotels in Ireland May 2008. And I have 7 days booked for Paris later April. Not sure if I will cancel and be elsewhere so I didn't book as a 7 day package with airline points.

Do I need to book the Marriott packages with FT points soon?

Marriott has seriously devalued their points program. The current 7 day package which includes 120 FF miles, is, as of 1/15/09, a 5 day package w/ 120 FF miles. I believe they are selling it as book 4 nights & get one free. We had been planning this Russia trip for a while and decided that St. Pete warranted a 7 night stay, so made the reservations and booked the 7 day rewards package prior to its experation on the 15th. The upside to the 5 day package is that the "anytime" awards will go away and that availability is greatly enhanced. Basically, as long as a certain class of room is available, you can book it with points.

If you are looking at a 7 night stay, I would suggest booking it tomorrow!

Recession? What Recession...you all are traveling!

I've got your basic Bass Lake, Ca scheduled for 2009. BUT-it's over 4th of July. I can't wait. Fireworks over the lake..sitting in the boat. Very excited

Other than that, whatever comes in flex that's local and fits the kids schedule. Lucky for me, I live in Calif. So local means lot's of neat places. I'd like to try the Welk Resort..maybe for spring. Got my eye on San Francisco too. We'll see.....

Stresscadet, if you have any questions regarding Welk let me know. We own there and it is my favorite. We try to go there every other year. I'm no expert but love Welk because for some unknown reason I can relax there like no where else. We also enjoy Bass Lake. Another one you might enjoy if you haven't been there is Eagle Crest in Oregon.

The rewards pkgs aren't ending but on 1/15 the program is changing, in short, cost (in points) for pretty much all the pkgs is going up but there are no blackout dates. If you are going to try to beat the deadline (Midnight tonite) I would suggest you do it online as the hold times today for a phone reservation I would bet will be extremely long.
