Cold enough for ya?

I was about to post how cold it is today here in fact it is the coldest so far this year, But after seing that -47F I think I will be happy with not counting the wind chill 15 degrees F out side. Man is it cold out side.

Kurt, if you know Fargo, then maybe you remember, if you drive east on 94 about an hour, you come to Fergus Falls. That is where I grew up, so I can relate to your Fargo story well. As I mentioned in the first post, I spend a winter in Thief River Falls. I remember many days below zero. And a lot of snow. So yes...Minneapolis is warm. But still, it gets cold. I had a car steering wheel crack/split when it was very cold one night.

Forcast high today of -5, -20 for tonight and -4 tomorrow's high. Went below zero on Monday night, we won't get over zero degrees until Friday afternoon. Now our above 30 temp won't happen until Tuesday followed by a cold spell.

Yes, I know the area well. I grew up outside of a small town just north of there a bit, called Twin Valley. We used to play Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls in 9-man football. I am now a wimp for the cold, having been in Colorado for several years now. I feel for ya! Stay warm!

Hallock Minnesota was in the news for their -50 something windchill temp. At 1pm today it was still -18 actual temp in Thief River Falls and zero in Minneapolis.

I can't wait for Myrtle Beach in 8 weeks. It will be about a 70 degree difference from what we have now until what we will enjoy then.

Today in Sydney, they say it'll tip over the 40 degree celsius mark, that's over 104 Fahrenheit ladies and gentleman. Yesterday was much the same but they say today will be even hotter.

I don't mind sharing if you use public transportation....otherwise the traffic is horrible.

I think that 4A is bulldozing us with that song and dance about buying in FL, instead of CA. Doesn't sound like he wants to share his good weather with us.

It is currently 18 degrees below zero in Minneapolis. We are forcast to have a high of -2 degrees today. Where I went to broadcast school in the northern part of Minnesota, there is a town of Thief River Falls, it was -33 this morning. I don't think they will warm up too much today.

It is supposed to be colder Thursday morning.

Then on Monday...we have a forcast high of 32 degrees. We will have a temperature swing of about 50 degrees in 4-5 days.

Northern Michigan has had it's share of cold, but I'll bet we can beat you on snow (at least this year ) While not as cold as you (thanks for sending that, by the way) we have a few feet of snow (like 4-5 feet after the thaw around the first of the year) that's with running a snowblower. I have gone though most of a 5-gallon can already and last year only refilled the tank a couple times. Yep.... we're back to the 70s!

Just for the record our economy is in tough shape, real estate stinks, and our state government is a joke.....so please don't move here...it is better in Florida so please move there if you have to move.

On that note, my niece is getting married next weekend. Outdoor wedding in the OC. I'm thinking a sleeveless dress with some strappy heels. No jacket required.

We are starting out the day with over 55 hours of temperatures below zero and expecting to go over 90 hours before we break above zero. We are -21 this morning looking for a high of -4.

For our honeymoon, we did a camping trip (before timesharing) on the lower part of Lake Superior and did some traveling in the U.P. of Mich. Lots of marks on trees, boards on the side of the road or on buildings showing record snow levels. That would get kind of tough to take. No going out for milk when the roads don't exist.

I'll take the cold. I just wish it wasn't this cold.

Some of you know that my friend Mark (my personal trainer) is now homeless and staying at a homeless shelter but still comes to the gym , makes him feel usefull. We were walking out to the car and noticed he didn't have a hat or gloves . I thought he may have left them at the shelter but he just plain didn't have any (and he is bald). Went straight to Sears and got him some. They were half price plus I gotanother 20% off so wasn't too bad. It got me to thinking of all the homeless people without and it is going to be the coldest 2 days of the season. I unfortunatly am learning to much about homeless people. I used to think very badly about homeless people but talking to Mark I am finding most have made bad choices or lost their jobs, etc. It's truly sad. shaggy

The detroit area homeless shelters are already overfilled due to all the unemployment with the auto companies and high rate of foreclosures. These cold temps are really a concern now because people just can't sleep in an abadoned home or outside in these temps they need shelter. Next week is my church's week to put up the homeless. MY 16 year old daughter and I have volunteered to help with set-up and serving dinners. I am expecting to find many formerly middle class families in this mix of people that are now homeless. So Sad!
