I am entered into the Great Aloha Run for Feb 16, 2009. It is an 8.15 mile run from Aloha Tower to Aloha Stadium.

I decided to run in this race a couple of months ago since I needed a new training goal. I needed to try something I've never done before and didn't think was possible. Prior to training for this race, I've never run more than a mile or two and that was in high school.
I am pleased to say that I am ready. Just yesterday, I ran from Kapiolani Park to Hawaii Kai. 8.45 miles. The path I took is actually part of the Honolulu Marathon about 1/3 of the way. I still can't believe I did it. After the run, my feet and calves were killing me. I couldn't walk for most of the rest of the day. It's about 3 weeks to the race. Now, I'll just be doing strength and endurance training along with rest and stretching and rolling until Feb 16.
If you want to get fit, pick something, anything and just do it. Me, I was just tired of being fat and I wanted to reduce my risk of getting diabetes.
