  • An Act of Kindness - Sue Grafton Novels for Military Wife.

I recently joined SwapTree - Trade Books, Book Swap, Trade Video Games, CD Exchange, DVD Swap to 'recycle' some of my old books.
Basically, you list what Books, CDs DVDs and Game System games you have and what u would swap for - you can also browse to see what your item will 'pull' - kinda like RCI/II

Anyway, one of my swaps was for a Sue Grafton novel - all of which start with a letter of the alphabet.

When I received confirmation that the person accepted the trade and I got their address...I noticed it was in Camp Lejeune, NC......so emailed the swapper via the site.

    Here is my correspondence.....

Thank YOU and thank him for his service to our country!
Are there any other books I can send you from my list? - I would be happy to do so - please check and pick 2 or 3 more - and then tell me which ones you want - I will take them off my have list and send them to you..
    Please let me know.
    Regards, Pat

XXXXX That is so kind of you. I will look. If you have any other Sue Grafton books, that would be awesome. I only have A, B, and now C, so that would be great!! Thank you so much for your message. It isn't often that people actually realize that the kids and I go through a lot in this lifestyle. My husband has a pretty tough job, but we go through some really raw and rough emotions at time. Thanks again!!

    GrayFal Hi XXXXX,
I have pulled "G", "I" and "J" off my list and will mail them along with the others....and just got "E" and "F" from a friend...again, thank you for the sacrifice that u and your family make to keep us safe. I have friends whose children are overseas and I know it is not easy.
    Will mail tomorrow morning.
    Pat

Anyway, this got me thinking - would anyone else like to send this woman a Sue Grafton Book?

    So far she has
    "A"
    "B"
    C is for Corpse
D is for Deadbeat from StressCadet
    E is for Evidence
    F is for Fugitive
    G is for Gumshoe
H is for Homicide from StressCadet
    I is for Innocence
    J is for Judgment
"T is for Trespass" from 3kids4me!

It cost a little more than $2 to mail one book Media Mail...please post the title if you have a Sue Grafton Book to send - and then I will pm you with the name and address of where to mail it......

Oh Pat, that's so nice. But, I get pretty much all of my books from the library.

Thanks for responding - I have also started to use the library.....but thought I would 'swap out' some of the older 'non-keepers' we have here.

It is cheaper then an RCI exchange fee

Great idea! Unfortunately shipping from here is more $$ than just buying the books outright. I would however recommend the Janet Evanovich novels to her, if she enjoys Grafton. Some of the latter ones have been very weak, but the early ones were a hoot.

I have read her too and wish I could help but all of my books come from the library.
The swap site sounds kind of fun. For me, it's probably way more hopeful of making a match than with RCI...

Thanks everyone - sometimes you see these at a yard sale - whatever.....

And yes, the swap site is GREAT! and Irene - the exchange fee is soooooo much less!
Recycling makes me feel like I am doing my part.

So far, I can fill in with "H" is for Homicide.

Surely, I can find "D"...I know I wouldn't have skipped letters

                    PM me.

That was easy...I just overlooked it. Whew! I feel better. "D" is for Deadbeat. (and dusty...but I'll take care of that

Pat, did you ever hear from her about the books? How many did she receive in all? I slipped a note in with mine, with an e-mail address, but never heard from her, so was just wondering....

                            Pat,

I haven't read any Sue Grafton books, nor have I ever heard of the swap site....It sounds great!

I don't mind looking to see if I can pick up a couple of Sue Grafton books. If I know what to get, I'll try and get it. I can even look on ebay's book site, and have them shipped directly to her.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I will have to follow up again Sharon - when I had contacted her about 10 days after I posted this, she only had the ones from me.

Ang, hold off until I hear from the 'swapee'!

Yes, swaptree is great - I had about 70 books listed with them that I wanted to get rid of - I have done about 50 trades so have a whole new supply to read - travel books, novels, stuff for DH and the kids.
