Allergies!!!

Anyone else in the Northeast suffering terribly this week? There is a layer of pollen all over everything, and I can't get any relief from any of the medicines I'm trying, OTC or prescription. Even the prescription nasal spray that worked last year isn't working

Yeah, it's getting a little tough. I was just going through my prescriptions from last year. Looks like it's time to start up again.

My allergist wouldn't call in a refill for me without $eeing me for an office visit. Couldn't see me for three days, still wouldn't call in the same thing he gave me last year

So I got the prescription elsewhere, and will be shopping for a new allergist. I never liked him anyway.

I can't know what your symptoms are, and you're from a different part of the country than I am. Still...

I was thinking last week how this is the first year I haven't had allergy problems. Our wind is something fierce this year, and I'm still breathing well (and I usually have a bad bout of cold-induced asthma). The difference? This year I've been taking Advair, and I've taken it religiously, not sluffing off when I feel well. Its worked for me.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Allergies are miserable.

Yess!! We live in Northern NJ and when I got home from work on Tuesday - the floor of my porch, which is normally green, was completely yellow with pollen. Thankfully, I don't have allergies, so I have been on hosing off duties

I had a severe allergy attack 2 weeks ago and my PC doc prescribed Allegra and nasonex spray. I got an email from nasonex wanting to know if I want daily emails reporting the pollen count. This is helpful and most days for the past 2 weeks the level has been RED (high)

I can tell the pollen count from what's layered on my car, but that is an interesting service. Allegra d/n work for me, I'm on day 2 of OTC eyedrops and prescription Nasocort, so far much better than the past two days but I'm running the A/C 24/7 and am afraid to go outside... which is a shame, because I'm freezing in the house, and it's beautiful out

Doesn't do a thing for me... but my sinus symptoms seem controlled with NasaCortAQ, but my eyes have been driving me nuts. Today seems a little better.

Has anyone tried a teaspoon of very local honey each day for allergies? We went to a farm festival where once again we talked with a beekeeper who recommended this. I've heard of it many times over the years, but I don't know anyone who uses honey or pollen for treating allergies. The honey has to be very very local--you can't just go to a grocery store, you have to get it from a supplier close to you, so that the bees are using the same pollen that you are breathing.

I said that to the beekeepers, and they said there are beekeepers everywhere if you look--there are even beekeepers right in Manhattan. So I imagine there are some by you, too....
