I'm posting here cuz this is likely gender-related.
How can I get an obsessive housekeeper to chill a bit?
Here's the deal . . . we live in the woods and on a lake . . . and we have laminate flooring throughout, so everything shows (unlike y'all who can hide years worth of filth in your carpets ).
DW has a little rechargeable floor sweeper, a big tool-time style vacuum cleaner, and a couple of handheld dustbuster styles. We're lucky to go a half day without one or more of them running. Then, of course, someone goes outside and tracks in a blade of grass or a speck of dirt.
How can I get her to let it accumulate awhile, say until it starts to pile, maybe to where you need a shovel , or at least get her to cut back to once or twice a week.
Oh yeah, we have a dog and three cats, and do they ever get blamed for that speck of dirt???
I can hear her brother muttering, "I would never live in a house I couldn't walk in."
Or, when after cleaning she says, "You don't appreciate what I do around here," is there a tactful way to say, "No, in this case, No!"
