    Interesting thread.

When we vacation, we tend to be more active, rather than relax, therefore, we spend quite a bit. For four of us, I try to keep it around $1000-$1500 for food/activities/souvenirs.

I'm thinking that our Hawaii trip this summer is going to be one of our highest to date!

In general, it seems as though I always spend more than I intend. Whether it be sightseeing, or eating out, it always seems to add up pretty quickly!

The least expensive week I had, believe it or not, was at the Atlantis at Harborside. I brought most of my food with me, including a cooler full of frozen meat. I spent well under $100 in the market in Nassau for produce, dairy, bread, bottled water and sodas. I spent nothing on tours that week because there was so much to do at the resort. Oooh, that is sounding good. I wish I was there right now!

I'd say $500-$700 for a week, on average. More like $1K/wk for some locations.

I take so many varied vacations, it depends on where I am and who I'm with. "Girls" trips and trips with extended family are more low key and geared to tight budgets. If its just my hubby and I we spend more since we play golf, drink at the pool, have spa treatments, eat at nicer restaurants and gamble. It's a good thing he only likes to take one week of vacation or he would quickly exhaust my yearly travel budget .

We seldom go out to eat at restaurants at home so whenever we're away we kinda look forward to dining out! We have our favorites that we just go to every year in Hawaii and Mexico. Not real fancy ones.....I'd say about $1000+ for 2 for a week.

On the average for 2 adults we spend about $700-$800 and that is eating out most of the time and eating in for breakfast and a couple of dinners and lunches ,a;; activites and shopping w/o airfare ,parking or car rentals.

On our May HH trip about $1000 for 4 adults to dine out, minor shopping and a $300 boat rental . Happily our son and girlfriend were with us. So $700 without the pontoon rental. Pretty cheap for 4 and we ate very well. I also used restaurant.com certs so that saved us $200 in discounts on 4 meals.

Got a great car rental deal for $108 including taxes using combined discounts codes $50 special Hertz summer discount( CODE 131272 ends 6/30/09)and the Hertz AAA discount. We are Gold members so they upgraded us from mid size to a Ford Escape. What a deal that was plus we used FF miles for airfare!

Try this: I play with lots of rental codes /sites/combos and just discovered on this trip anyway that booking direct thru AAA to Hertz was $$$ cheaper than booking thru Hertz to AAA. Not sure if that is true normally.

On the average years with airfare/car $2000-$2500 if I factor in TS MF,II/ RCI annual member fee plus II/ RCI exchange fee a week, dining out, golf, activites and meals. Of course a drivable destination would cost 50-60% less.
