  • People are mean

Someone broke into my Honda last night and stole my car stereo. They busted the back passenger window. Luckily I had just cleaned the car out 2 weeks ago and got most of the stuff out. They didn't like my choice of music (country) cause they left about 50 cd's. I was thankful it wasn't my new mini as the mini was parked behind the Honda but they didn't touch it. Guess they wanted a Alpine stereo and the mini has only a factory installed radio.

I never posted this but less than one week in my Mini I was involved in a hit and run. > A huge truck and a Kitchcen Visions van backed into my mini & took off!!! There wasn't much damage but I was really pissed. A witness said he might not have known he hit me, but the business was in the same area so at least I had a contact. The officer gave the business/driver a ticket.

    I think I need a vacation. shaggy

I'm so sorry that you've had this happen to you. It's really lousy.

I don't have a GPS, but I hear that cars are broken into all the time in order to steal them too. In fact, when you drive into the airport parking garage at Logan International (Boston) there are big signs saying to remove your GPS. I guess people just can't keep their paws off of other people's stuff.

I know the feeling of someone braking in your car.
These thieves will probably keep braking into cars and they will get caught.
        Yes people are mean.

Some people store their home address in their GPS and label it "home", the thief then uses the GPS to guide them to your empty house. It happens here at sports events where thieves know people will be otherwise occupied for some time. They would have a field day at airport parking garages.

Several of the newer GPS models have a locking feature that will prevent unauthorized use. If yours has that feature, it is a very good idea to enable / use it.

Years ago when I was a young adult I had a VW Bug and so did my brother. We had the same tape player in each car and he had a ton of tapes, I had a few. Someone broke into my car (I would have given them the tape player) and caused about $400 of damage. They took the tape player and tapes. My brother's car parked in front of mine was already open and they never touched his. Talk about mean people.

It sucks when these things happen but make lemonade out of your lemons. Now you have an excuse to buy a removable faceplate stereo to replace it. Plus now you can get all the goody gadgets that come with a new stereo like ipod jacks. I've had my stereo and airbags stolen from my car and you do feel a bit violated but it's part of life. That's why we need to keep vacationing at TS's. To forget about the troubles of life.

Well, so far my Honda's window is fixed. N-wide gave me the name of someone they recommend and handed me a check for $235. I asked if I had to go to them and they said no, I can choose anyone I wanted but if it was more I had to pay the difference. I took it to another place that had been in business for years and had a excellent rep and to my surprise they did it for $165. Another adjuster called about the radio. They don't give you a check for the radio. They send you somewhere and they put in exactly what you had. I have to go to N-wide and fill out some forms and have it notorized that that's what was taken. Never heard of such a thing but I have to say it'll keep people honest.

The extra money was spent on an emergency trip to the vet with Monkey. That's another story. shaggy

Thanks Kurt, I downloaded the instruction booklet, read 10 pages and left the other 30 pages for later. Later hasn't arrived yet.
