Well, I splurged and bought an Osprey Merrimack canoe.

I started out looking at Old Towns, Mad Rivers, etc. All nice canoes and then I saw ones from Merrimack. Thunk. Gone. Sold !

I live about 3.5 miles from Walden Pond and ~ 10 from the Old North Bridge in Concord and cannot wait to take her out !

Late edit: Now I'll really have to be creative with my booked T/S vacations and FF miles. This came out of my vacation budget !

Yeah what fun. I used to canoe almost every weekend in the summer before children. I have canoed almost every river in Indiana and a few of the larger resevoirs. I do miss it alot and now only get out about 1 time a year now and that is if I am real lucky. This got me thinking of a few of the resorts I have visited that taking a canoe would be a lot of fun.

I only meant to spend $600-700 for this, but went overboard (no pun intended) when I saw the Merrimack Osprey. It's like going to buy a lower-priced car and then you're sucked in by the ones with better bells and whistles.
Well, I can kiss that new winter coat goodbye this year (for starters - among other things).
