Friday night my DD (16) and I went to Shakespeare in the Park - for a performance of 12th Night -starring Anne Hathaway , Audra McDonald, Raul Esparza and more (VERY well done btw, good ensemble casting, closes 7/12).
As we were going to our gate to enter, I noticed the actor Jeff Goldblum (he's sooooo tall he really stands out) just waiting outside.
I normally only smile and not bother anyone famous, figuring they are entitled to some privacy, but did point him out to DD who got all excited as she "knows" him from TV. She wanted to take a photo with him, and I was about to say let's leave him alone, when I saw that 1/2 the people who walked by asked to pose for a photo or ask for an autograph, so we did too.
He was SO gracious about it, just lovely, and I told him so, thanking him.
We entered and found our seats, and i was looking to see him coming in. He did, with a very young girl (21, he is 56). She was beautiful, but I had no idea who she was. DD was sure she "knew" her too, but couldn't place her. Racked her brain and finally figured out she is an actress who plays Alexandria on "Lost", one of her favorite shows.
During intermission, DD took the camera and went to ask her if she was indeed the actress. The young woman was so happy to be recognized, saying DD was the first person to recognize and come up to her, which made DD feel so special. They posed together for a photo and it made DD's experience all the better.
(When we came home I googled and have since found out they are an item and have been seen 'canoodling' . Her name is Tania Raymonde)
