  • 2 cats need a temporary (6 month) foster home

... suggested you might be able to help me. A friend of mine's stepson is moving into their house temporarily before entering the Marines in Jan. He is very allergic to cats, so she is looking to put them in a foster home for 6 months until January when he heads to boot camp. She would like them back but if the adopting person gets very attached she will talk with them later. The two cats are sisters and indoor cats, they are both declawed and are three years old in excellent health. Any ideas how we can find a temporary home for them? I believe she would pay for food. Thank you.

I would take them myself if I didn't have way too much going on in my life at the moment.

Can anyone here help? They are in the NYC area.

I'm sorry, Lawren. I have a dog that is way too fascinated by cats. We sometimes watch my MIL's cat and it has a miserable life until she comes home. The dog just can't understand why the "new dog" doesn't want to play. Sorry I can't help....

      They sound adorable but......
our two cats don't like any other small creatures and the little cat is afraid of big people too.

My daughter is arriving today with the new baby and two dogs. the cats are afraid of the dogs and will spend the week under our bed with some nighttime forays.
The little cat was pretty afraid of the baby the first time he visited. She kept coming out from under the bed to see what I was holding, then she would scamper under the bed again. Two quick looks and then to the other side of the room where she could view the baby from a safe distance, but not for too long, back under the bed.
Eventually she would ignore the baby when I had him in my room, but the dogs are too much to ignore.
