  • These are the moments we treasure

Some folks have been sharing stories about milestones and memories.

For one, it is seeing their son graduate from high school. Not the actual day that is in focus, but what their feelings are because it feels like fruition...remembering all the moments of their son's path, his first day at school, or a particular teacher who gave up on him but who had to be shown by their son that she shouldn't have given up....proud memories, bittersweet.

For another it is a wedding or a christening or....

...what is (are) your treasured moment(s)?
....what does it represent to you?

A treasured moment for us happened last year, when we helped a dear woman we love make her dream come true...we helped her make it happen. The look of sheer joy and gratitude on her face is impossible to convey.

That expression of hers represented so many things to us...but above all it meant that no one should ever consider themselves too old to have a dream. It also showed us that it is possible for any dream to come true, but it is best to have someone to share it with when it does.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

    Great idea!

What a great idea! Thanks for stating this. I loved Jim's (bocabum) post about his marathon dreams etc. I hope to read similar stories from others as well. I will post my stories soon

I planned a birthday party for my husband's 85th; had about 40 or 50 friends/family. The most treasured part was when a Naval Commander presented him with a certificate, medal, and a letter from the Governor of Missouri honoring his service in World War II. Here is a link to the picture. A dear friend who has a fabulous voice sang Anchors Aweigh and America the Beautiful. My husband was a radioman in the Naval Air Corps. He was so surprised and touched; and everyone really, really enjoyed the party.
