  • I love New York

We finally got here after a 3:45 min delay in Dallas on Friday. Took a cab to the Manhattan Club instead of the train to save time. I must say that it was totally worth the wait. After having been here for just under 2 days, I can say definitively that I love New York.

Right now I am in the box office line for West Side Story after having got 50% off tickets for Mamma Mia for today's 2 pm Matinee. More in a minute.

Update: Got 10th row center orchestra seats for Wed Matinee for West Side Story. Woo Hoo!!

Yesterday was a bit rainy and dreery. Today, it's fantastic weather. We met with Holly yesterday lunch at Carnegie Deli (don't worry, we still have Katz' Deli on the list of must dos). I had to get my Pastrami fix immediately satiated and since it was so close, it was a no brainer. Had a potato pancake and of course a cheesecake. Ran 10 miles on the tread mill to burn off the excess calories. Then, went down to Little Italy to get my Pizza fix at Lombardis. Mmm, mmm good. I love thin crust pizza with toasty crust. Pepperoni with roasted red pepper pie and tomato mozzerella salad. Got our weekly subway passes and made it back to the MC at around 11:30. Great first day.

Today, we went out and walked around. Started out with a strawberry and banana crepe from one of the weekend broadway vendors. Just finished a sausage and peppers getting ready to go see Mamma Mia. Mom had an apple and strawberry crepe and a chicken gyro.

Decided to skip Jersey Boys and try to see Burn the Floor which is a dance show with Anya and Pasha from "so you think you can dance." It looks like 50% off tickets are readily available for this show.

We will be heading over to the US Open on Tuesday and will probably do mostly night events since those are the daily featured matches.

Can't wait for the rest of the week. More food, more entertainment, more running to burn off the calories.

The Manhattan Club is awesome. Very nice room. 2 bathrooms are a plus. Best location I can possibly imagine. I need to figure out how to get here a lot more often.

    I Love New York.

        Hi Jim,

Glad to hear that you love NY. Me too.

I was in the city yesterday, and stayed at W 57 th Street last night. Too bad I didn't know that you were staying at the MC, maybe we could have met up for a drink.

        Enjoy your stay!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Dang. That was close. Oh well. At least I got to see you in California.

The funny thing is that I lived in New Jersey for 14 years and went to grad school in New York. But, at that time, I was young and didn't have any money. New York sucks when you are broke.

            Welcome to the I-love-NY club!

We live 2 hours from SF but it's been a year since we were here last (we're here now as I write this). In that same year we've been to NYC twice!

Timeshare has certainly spoiled us! 2 weeks in NYC costs the same for us as 2 weeks anywhere!

It's been about 25 years since I've been in the city other than driving thru on 95. I continue to do my best to avoid it, including driving around rather than through. I miss the deli pastrami, corned beef and knishes and would have liked to been at the recent get-togethers.

We are at intermission at mamma Mia. I love it! Always loved abba growing up. They did a nice job weaving in the music to the story line. Great casting and acting.

I am glad you have a beautiful day today so that makes it even nicer. Take a walk through the park, if you have time. ENJOY.

The only problem is that a week is over before you know. Everyone has to experience this city at least once just like San Francisco.

Are you in the one bedroom?

Hi, Jim. We have a studio next summer for just me and the DH, but I'm on the lookout for a larger unit sometime after that so we can take the kids. I've read conflicting things about whether the one bedroom holds 4 or 5. I think on RCI Points, it shows that it holds 4, but on Redweek rentals many of the ads say they'll sleep 5.

I don't want to book one and find out I can't fit all of us. Can you give me your opinion about whether the one bedroom accommodates 5? We have (right now) 10, 8, and 5 year old kids plus me and husband. I know it wouldn't be the kind of space we're used to in our 2 bedroom timeshares, but for NY, it is worth it!

You can fit 5 in the unit if you sleep 3 on the King bed. It would be very tight doing that since the unit is small, but it's doable as long as you don't get kicked out for exceeding max occupancy.

Be prepared, the food at the US Open is super expensive. My DH and DD both worked there the last 2 days as Paramedic and EMT respectively. They brought their own bagels for breakfast.
