Eric,
Please accept Jerry's and my condolences. Dementia and Alzheimer's are terrible diseases. They keep taking. I think it is harder on the ones they love rather than the person themselves. I know your mom is at peace now.

You have my sympathy and understanding, too.
As some here know, I went through that with my mother for quite some time before she died in 2003.
I play golf with a 78-year-old with and have an Aunt with the same problem.
The good of it is that they seem to live only in the moment, so are relieved of the burdens the rest of us have.
Hold your good memories close to you. You will find that they come back involuntarily, when least expected. When they do, and you go to that private place with her, just let the good feelings take over.
I'm there with my Mom (and Dad) now, as I am whenever these threads come up.

Condolences from here too. My wife's father had Alzheimer for over a year for the last year of his life it was tough. Even when our loved ones have lived a long life it still can be difficult. But I have always had comfort in believing in God and that there is a better place after our time on earth. Sorry for your loss

Eric, please accept my condolences and prayers. We are also going through the same issues with our parents and understand. Please take care."If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."

Thanks to all. We had the funeral this past weekend - had to wait, my brother was in China. It was a nice send off. She returned to Indiana after being gone for 50 years and is buried next to my father, who passed away in 2003. The cemetery is about a mile from where my father grew up and there are many family members there. Thanks again.

My mom is on the hill above her childhood home, in an area she played in as a child. Actually, above here second childhood home . . . since her family lost their mansion in '29.
Oh yeah, she moved back to that home when she was able to, and stayed there til the end.
