  • So, did everyone have a good summer?

It wasn't the greatest summer weather wise this year, in the east. I'm feeling a little jipped! Maybe we'll get lucky, and have a nice Indian Summer.

The highlight of my summer was our trip to Paris. Everyone should visit Paris at least once in their lives......Nice people, good food, and beautiful architecture, with many cultural sights to visit. We had a wonderful time, and would definitely go back again, one day. First tho, we need to visit So France.

How was your summer, and what was the highlight?

Our summer was great and went way too fast! I agree with your comment on the weather. I live in PA and we sure had our share of wet weather this summer (hope that's not a sign of what winter will be like). The last week was absolutely beautiful - hope it lasts. Any way, back on track to the original question, we had a wonderful vacation this year. We spent a week in Disney and another at a TS in Kissimmee. We've never spent two weeks on a vacation and it was so nice to spend more time relaxing instead of hectic running from one place to another to get to see everything. In addition to Disney, we visited Discovery Cove (expensive, but well worth it), Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa. We even got a two night stop in Williamsburg, VA on our way done to FL. We have lots of great memories. But it was also the most expensive vacation we've ever taken. It'll be quite some time before we can save up enough money for that kind of vacation.

How did you get jipped? Rain, temp, etc???

In the Midwest (Missouri) we had just about the best summer that I can remember. Cooler than normal temps and just enough rain to keep everyone happy.

Our summer highlight was the Cozumel trip. Great location!

Yes, it was a very rainy summer, with lower than normal temps.....Our summers are short, and we really feel it when we get prolonged rainy weather, etc.

The bad weather really blew a lot of my summer. Also it's the first year in a while we didn't have any big beach trips planned, so that doubled the blow. I seemed to miss most of the good beach days locally, planning to go on days that turned out to be unbeachable, and having to work on the sunny days.

I did end the summer with a nice trip to Newport, RI. Although the weather there wasn't great either for much of the time, it was a nice, relaxing week in a pretty area.

My kids both felt the lack of real summer, too, and are campaigning for a return to Hawaii next year...

My summer's been spent mostly in the house, relaxing and figuring out how to do things for myself, since I broke my foot May 25th and haven't been allowed to stand on it since. I had a surgery on it August 5th, then a couple of weeks later Jerry broke his shoulder.

Medical complications abounded for both of us, from complications in my surgery to a reaction to medicine which put Jerry in the hospital for three days.

With luck, I'll be able to walk again in a little less than a month (I'm using a mobility scooter now). Jerry will start his therapy the end of this week.

But you know what? Its been a great summer, too, knowing that we are surrounded by so many friends who check on us and offer to help.

My summer sucked lemons. The weather stank and for the first time in over a decade I went no where for more than a night or two.

Yes it was a good summer. I went to Yellowstone, Teton and SLC - what a beautiful part of the country. It's a whole 'nother world out west - landscape, culture, food. Really made me think about how different my life would be if lived there.

Summer was good, but went by much too quickly. Did more travel than usual, and it's not over yet.

                      A week in the Berkshires.

Two weeks on the Big Island.

                      A week in Florida.

And a short trip to Washington (state) coming up next week. I guess when that one is over my summer will officially be over as well.

We've had a pretty good summer. Started with the 1st week in June at Disney World with all the kids and grandkids. 1st time visit for some and had been 15 yrs since we and the kids had been. Had a GREAT time. Spent a week in July in Grand Cayman.

Only regret is that we haven't camped as much this summer as we like too. Either the weather has been bad (rain entire weekend) or we have had too many other things going on to be able to go for the weekend. Hoping to camp this weekend if the weather is nice.

Summer is starting in a few months for us.

Fern, what planet was I on? Didn't even know you'd broken your foot.
                          Hope Jerry is doing OK.

Summer was good for us. We spent most of it in Florida with kids and grandkids. Very busy, but it keeps us young.

Jerry and I are both doing better. Hopefully I'll be able to walk and start therapy by the end of the month. Its been a long haul...

Jerry went to the doctor's today. He will have a physical therapist come to the house to begin working with him in a week or so. He's probably got about six weeks before he's healed. His other medical problems are under control.
