Yippee! My end date is Nov. 27. I have worked for the bank for 23 yrs. I will get paid until the end of January, 2011. I knew there were going to be layoffs, so I told my manager I really wanted to retire. I got my wish as did 2 of my colleagues. Of course, even though I got what I wanted, I am sad to be leaving too. I will miss so many of the people I have worked with and I know this is a very big change in my life.

That is great, I had a buyout - one year to start my retirement back in May of 2005. I have never looked back and enjoyed the free year and the retirement years afterwards. Have fun and enjoy!

I have a friend at a large company that was offering similar "lay-off packages" to relatively senior staff. So many took them up on the offer, they had to rescind a portion of them.
