Congrats. Sounds like a win-win with a bonus of good medical coverage.

      Me too!

It is an interesting change over but I'm sure you'll fill your time well.

      Enjoy and congratulations.

How nice to have them paying you for that extra time since you were going to retire anyway Fab!

I retired over 5 years ago and never looked back. I loved my job, but I love retirement also. I miss the people, but keep in touch with those I cared most about.

            Enjoy,
            Nancy

                Congratulations Pat!

Sounds like a great deal, and now your free to travel, take it easy, whatever.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I knew there were going to be layoffs, so I told my manager I really wanted to retire. I got my wish as did 2 of my colleagues. Of course, even though I got what I wanted, I am sad to be leaving too. I will miss so many of the people I have worked with and I know this is a very big change in my life.
That is great since you want to retire anyway! Is this some kind of early retire plan or buyout offer from your company that pays you for two years?

I had to retire on disability three years ago and I have medical with my union plan and my wife's medical picks up the rest.

She was retiring last Nov but when home prices fell she decided to keep working and adding to her pension. I know she wants her company (SaveMart Grocery) who bought out her stores to do a buyout but guess they are doing fine and not trying to dump employee's yet.

She will be first in line if they do because she passed the early out stage now and ready to leave anytime!

Whoops, sorry. Yes, that is private stuff. I forgot that we were on a more public forum and not the other one. Thanks !

The company is elimnating some jobs. I told my manager that I would like to go since I wanted to retire. Somehow they managed to accomodate the 3 of us who wanted to leave. I'm so glad because there were others who could not afford to lose their jobs right now. I've been in their shoes and it's a terrible feeling.

My company is providing packages based on length of service. Mine is 14 months.
