Good luck with your surgery. Back surgery certainly isn't something to look forward to.

I know two people who had back surgery and both are pain free and can do everything as before (even skiing).

They both did the exercises faithfully that were recommended but did not over do it either so that may be important too. I hope that your surgery will go well and that you will be pain free again, Robert.

Say hi to Caroll and tell her that we missed your visits in Kihei this year. Good luck.

Life is to short not to be able to do everything you enjoy. Best of luck! We'll all be rooting for you.

Not resigning myself to lying low for 20 years. Muscles are turning to flab.

I want to do some things.

Going to try for some relief. Operation scheduled for May 10.

Best of luck with your surgery. I imagine it is hard to wait a week once you make the decision. What type of surgery are they doing?

After reading your topic a bajillion times, cringing, and thinking of all the smartass comments to make, I finally opened it.

                  Good luck.

The surgeon was all lined up. This has been a waiting game to get a slot on his table. All tests were complete, that he wanted. I decided, Yes, lets do it. Therapy and injections have helped some, but I can't enjoy doing anything but for aggravating pain in the L4/5 area.

This afternoon, my family doc put the stops on the operation. She didn't like the evidence from lab work. Tests are now being ordered to show heart, kidneys and liver are fit.

How frustrating this must be for you. Your doctor is cautious and that is good. Please, keep us posted.

Oh goodness, the wait is always the worst. Sending you positive thoughts and best wishes. It is best that your doc make sure you or your body can handle the operation, so taking precautions is good...hang in there!!

Good for your Doc for being cautious. Don't forget your previous experience with pulmonary embolism. You want to be 100% when you go into surgery. I'm sure she is taking your past history into consideration.

Good luck Robert! Sorry to hear about the delays, but better to be safe, then sorry.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

                              Operation is finally a GO!

After several EKGs, Labs, Ultrasounds, MRIs, CTs... 3-months later, I've a 2-hr slot at 10:30 on 15 July... TOMORROW MORNING!

I found I have: A small syst in one Kidney, An enlarged prostate (12 biopsys showed no cancer cells), A colonoscopy (clear), etc.

Now, I'm ready for some HURT and hopefully much relief in days to come.
