Low heat, and stir constantly just till all the sugar dissolves. Then chill before using in drinks.

And heavy syrup is 2 sugar to 1 water or something like 1 cup sugar to 1/2 cup water. Although, most of what I have done would be 2 cups sugar to 1 cup water.

I didn't win any Betty Crocker awards.
I didn't even get to take cooking in high school.

OOOPs, it was 1974 but who is counting? I didn't take cooking either but they required all the seniors take the test and then when they figured out who won, they called me in and asked if I knew who won, and I said I did or you wouldn't be asking me. They said do you want us to just give it to you? I said if I were female would you be asking me that question? There were lots of hoots and hollers in the auditorium on awards day for sure!

Simple syrup, not heavy syrup. When you put al the rum and ice in there, you'll see how little sugar there really is per drink, quite tart.

Were you a senior in '74? Did we graduate the same year?

I was just making another out of place comment, as I am known to do. The heavy syrup is something you will see on your can of peaches as in 'peaches in heavy syrup'. Back in the day when I canned peaches, that is what I used, heavy syrup.
