Every year, I count the number if trick or treaters I get at the door.
This year, it was in the upper 30s (not too cold, but coats required), it was not raining or snowing, so nothing really keeping the kids away, and it was a Saturday night. We planned on a lot of kids, but got only 55, 30 boys and 25 gouls, or as close as I can count when they come in hurds, gaggle or murders.

This number is down from last year when it was warmer and on a Friday night. Back then, I think (without finding my records) it was about 90 kids.

The DW thinks maybe more are staying home, or going to organized parties. Or, maybe it is that we live on a culd a sac and off the main drag.

So, I don't expect anyone is a weird as I am to keep records, but how did you do on trick or treaters?

We live on a very popular trick-or-treating street. Last year we must have gotten about 120 or 130 kids. This year, probably only about 70. I have a disgusting amount of candy left over, plus the candy from my own kids' trick-or-treating bags. Of course now they've hidden that candy away somewhere....

This year, it was raining off and on, and it seemed like the kids were confused about what time they should be ringing doorbells. When Halloween falls on a school night, they start arriving just after school and the big high-school kids finish up about 9:00. We have an inflatable Halloween decoration that we put out on the porch when we're open for business, and we bring it in at about 9:30 and turn off the porch light till we go to bed.

Right now we're in the 30's to 40 as far as numbers. It looked like it was going to take off so I ran to the store to pick up a couple of more bags of candy. By the time I got home, the street that was full of kids was empty again. Guess I'll have snacks for the next couple of flights to timeshares.

10 years ago when we first moved into our house we were in the 100's as far as trick or treaters. Each year it's dropped off a little more. I'm not sure why but it sure isn't like it was back in the 60's and 70's when I was trick or treating.

0 kids.....but we live in a sparsely populated area and few kids. What few kids that live around here, probably just head into town where there are more houses and people and lights....and more 'goodies'. I do miss seeing the little ones in their costumes though.

I live on a popular street for Halloween. The whole neighborhood is involved and people come from all over. (ok with me - this is my favorite "holiday"). I purchased 200 glow necklaces, 260 small containers of playdoh and an assortment of candy.

Glow necklaces all gone, about 8 playdoh left, a handful of candy left.

I would guess we had at least 250.

It started off slow this year, when I checked with a neighbor who does an official count he was only up to 110 by 7:00pm. But, they were out later. The last person was here around 8:45.

Alot more teenagers this year and thank goodness the the 50 something women with no kids and three bags didn't come. This was the year I was going to tell her to get real.

We've had very few (10 maybe) so far, but it's still early here. Also since it's still daylight savings I think that threw things off. Usually we start getting them around between 5 and 6, this year the first ones didn't come until almost 7. I'm shutting down at 9 p.m. though.

Only one. More candy for us....

We are the young ones in the neighbourhood, no G kids for us but the neighbours have them and they are older, soon will be lots of kids if we can stick it out here.

The next street away however is a little more upscale and the cars and minivans disload the little darlings in shifts.

Lots of snow on the ground here in Northern Colorado from our storm earlier this week, but today was a nice, sunny day in the 50's, and it was a nice (although cool) evening.

Our final tally was 190! Even more (by about 20) than last year when Halloween day was sunny and in the 70's. Go figure! We live at the end of a cul-de-sac, so I'm sure the houses on the main strees in our neighborhood had even more.

                    Some great costumes this year!

Only had six and now I'm stuck with two bags of chocolate ----- ah less the two pieces I just ate.

Not good for my diet but oh so good chocolate.

We had 113 kids this year up from 79 last year.

It was nice second year in a row that the wife was off and able to answer the door tonight.

Something about wives I guess because both years she keeps a running total.

She ask me how many when I do it and I tell her two different groups, boys and girls!

Small numbers here as it was raining pretty hard for a while. Trick or Treaters in low 20's. Last year we had over 100.

Good weather, kids started coming around 7PM with parents and then older kids came up to about 9PM.

A 50 something woman with three bags and no kids almost sounds as if she was trick or treating for kids that were shut in's of some type.

I've had adults trick or treat along with their kids but, they've always had one bag. Having three bags, which for the most part is pretty much unnecessary, tips me off that there may have been three individual's she was trick or treating for and you know how kids are if they have to share candy.

Or, I could be wrong. I've seen worse in our society.
