Very small number of kids this year, under 15 in total. It was warm, near 70, and it never rained until after dinner.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We live rural so unless the cows, wild hogs, turkeys, etc. are in a party mood we don't get any trick or treaters

We do take DD to a section of road that has self-proclaimed itself as the trick or treat miracle mile. People set up booths (literally) as well as their trucks to hand out candy. ATVs (which are not street legal) are given the blind eye for the night to haul decked out trailers of treaters up and down the road. It's a real holiday atmoshere. Most of the adults, with kids or just handing out candy, wear costumes. Houses here, near town, are on 1 1/4 lots so having a section packed with treats works really well for everyone into the holiday.

This year DD's haul was less and quality was down. I think people just couldn't justify spending the money as much and more others didn't/couldn't spend at all but still wanted to have some fun so showed up to hang out.

3 door bell rings in all, maybe 10 kids -- way down from every other year.
I was surprised esepcially because it was a Saturday.
My DD said that wherever they went, they saw no kids , no one was out, and that so many people were not even home.
They also went to a townhouse development (less walking than where houses are set on an acre) and saw no one out either - and that development has tons of kids. It didn't rain until late (8:30?)

Weather, H1N1 fear and general Halloween fears may have been the reasons for low turnout this year on a Saturday night.

Maybe empty houses in some neighborhoods and lights out/no costumes where times are tough.

We only had maybe 18 - 20, down maybe a dozen or so from last year. It was a beautiful ~ windy ~ night, 70's day and probably 62 at night. Didn't sprinkle 'till maybe 9:00. I think more are opting for organized parties also. It's very frustrating tho, you never know what to expect.

For years we have maybe 1 or 2 kids come by. It's a sad sign of the times in my town of Miami that crime keeps the kids going to the malls or to parties instead of trick or treating.

I'm sad for the kids coming up because I've seen the decline over my 40 years of living here. It's just not safe anymore. Not worth risking something happening to our little ones.

I guess I don't blame the Moms and Dads for not letting their precious ones participate.

Our community even keeps a roster of guests for that day and you have to let them know in advance who you will be inviting to any parties.
If they are not on the list then no tickee no shirtee.

Unfortunately some have used Halloween as a guise to rob some of the homes in our gated community.

I think we had more than usual this year. It was around 70 degrees at 8 PM. The kids weren't wearing coats and a few of the girls had costumes with spaghetti straps. We had so many in the first 1/2 hour that I was worried that 4 bags wouldn't be enough. But then it slowed down tremendously. Most of the kids were teenagers. Some didn't have costumes or goodie bags. I guess they just joined their friends to ask for free candy.

Only one adult came with a bag. He was with his son and said his daughter was home with the flu.
