Thanksgiving Meal while Timesharing

We (four adults and two children) are going to be at a timeshare in Orlando for Thanksgiving and are taking a 3 day cruise from Sunday-Wednesday right before the holiday.

What do you usually do for holiday meals when you are timesharing? Eat out or eat at the Condo? If you eat out, any recommendations?

We figured it would be crazy at any of the parks and currently not planning on going.

The only time we were in Orlando for Thanksgiving we ordered a thanksgiving dinner from Crackerbarrel and brought back to the timeshare. Wasn't the best T'Giving meal I've ever had, but served it's purpose and was not over priced. You may also want to check with the local supermarkets to see if any also do up the dinners for pick up if ordered ahead.

We've done Thanksgiving at a timeshare a couple of times and are doing it again this year. Twice we ate out (and my kids went alone last year and ate out). We've not been very happy eating out on Thanksgiving. Expensive and food not that good. This year we are eating in. Probably doing ham or a turkey breast, something simple. We'll see how that works.

We spent Thanksgiving at Christmas Mountain Village for the last 2 years. Both years we did eat at their on site restaurant. Food was plentiful, but pretty average. We will be going to the same resort for Christmas this year, but may go to a different restaurant for a big dinner. We will do lots of other cooking in the villa.

This year, we are going to friends to have Thanksgiving with a total of 18. I am smoking 1 bird and may be doing a second in the oven and then bringing them over to the hosts house.

I agree with Lawren......I would look around for some local places preparing T'Giving dinner, and take it back to the timeshare. Maybe someone from the timeshare can even recommend a good place. I bet there are a number of restaurants, deli's, etc., preparing take out for T'Giving.

Publix does the Thanksgiving Dinner. You will need to order this week I believe. It is a turkey, stuffing, potato (mashed) green veggie (I think green beans) cranberry sauce, gravy, rolls and pumpkin pie. The cost was around $50 and more than enough for 4 adults and 2 children.

We did Cracker Barrel.
Publix does the meal, but you have to pick it up on Wednesday. I think you need to heat everything for quite awhile.
We had plenty from Cracker Barrell and no work and acceptable.

We did Publix...it was good. You have to cook it for a couple of hours, so it makes the condo smell like home. You do have to pick it up on Wednesday, I believe.

I would bet that the Publex Supermarket would do a T-giving meal with all the trimmings that you could order ahead - and it would be GOOD!

My oldest son lives near a wonderful Publix and they do all their grocery shopping there. When I visit I have always been impressed with the store and how clean it is. We love their salads (macaroni, potato, slaw) and their deli is wonderful. They will make party platters with little lead time and they also have a wonderful bakery (try one of the lemon meringue (sp?) pies...yum).

Yes, you will have to heat the meal, but it does make the timeshare smell like home!

Thanks for all the suggestions, will get ahold of the resort and see what is near and see our options. Those are great ideas!

Others have said what I was going to . . . Publix . . . heat and eat in your condo.
