My DS and I have been waiting for this new Burton/Depp movie for quite some time. Today was opening day and we both played hooky this morning for first show and lunch out together.

It was just OK though. I expected a very lose adaptation and that it was, but there was so much more that could have been done with this.

    Wait for the DVD.

I read a review this morning and it was the reviewer's theory that the reason it didn't turn out as "great" as it might have, is that Disney reigned Tim Burton in a bit. Supposedly they wanted a more traditional "Disney type" ending.

Lauren, is it OK for a six year-old?

I have seen the movie trailer at the showing of Avatar and it looked a bit weird - not in a good way.

I am not surprised to hear u did not care for it, but yes, I would see it on DVD.

It's done in 3-D. How would that work on a DVD?

It's shown in theaters in 2D also. Most theaters around here have it playing in 2D and 3D in the same theater.

I agree - I like Tim Burton, but Tim Burton in 3D looks like a bit much. Avatar in 3D was awesome bc it was beautiful. I think this one might scare me, let alone a 6 year old....

I don't think it would be totally appropriate for one that young. Not even your precocious little one.

                We saw the 2D version.

There are some movie trailers that peaked our interest though for upcoming nights out.

We saw it in 3D yesterday, it looked great, it was a fun movie, we thought it was good, but nothing extrordinary.

That's too bad, actually. She really wants to see it!

Time touted the old English version from decades back (lots of famous actors) in a recent issue. Check that one out. Ken
