Blame the media....I like that....
I am going to start blaming the media for everything.....sounds like a popular excuse these days....when my wife complains why I don't take out the trash...'its because of the papparazzi who want to take my picture and publish it in the media'.....yeah....need to think up some good ones.
Why are your going to the Angel game again????....to get away from the media pressure......hmmmmm
Why are you drinking again????......media pressure getting to me....
Why are you on the computer again????.....keeping tabs on the media and what they might do to me....."If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."
-- Thomas Jefferson to Col. Yancey, 1816

As you said, Paul McCartney has been in the public spotlight for years, but he hasn't generally been one to chase publicity. Heather Mills McCartney on the other hand has only seemed to be really happy when she is shooting her mouth off and being centre of attention. Any complaint from that quarter about 'media intrusion' is laughable.

McCartney Break Up
Yes, Heather and Paul did have a baby about 3 years ago. She did lose a leg but I don't remember how. I also read today that Paul is worth over a billion dollars and she did not sign a prenup. Will be interesting to see how much of a golddigger she really is.

She lost her leg quite tragically. She was waiting to cross a street and a police (car/motorcycle forget which) was chasing some criminals, and she got hit by it. Her leg ended up in one place on the street and she in another.
Ok, here is probably more than you want to know::
I have a friend who lives and breathes news about Paul. Here is her take.
There are several issues.
Heather seems to have problems dealing with his fame and her not being the center of attention anymore or some such garbage.
They have loud rows which she forgets about the next day but he still carries the fights around with him. Apparently the volatility has driven him nuts and he wants out. How much of this is true - well, i would like to be the fly on the wall.
She apparently is out of touch with how he really felt abut their marriage as this was tabloid fodder all last week in the UK, and she denied it so strongly, saying she would sue the tabloids and make $$ for her charity. During the week he was in Monaco, alone, found sitting in a bar, drinking, knowing he'd be photo'd. (reminded me of Diana at Taj Mahal and we all know how that went) .
He wants her to cut back on her career/ charity work and flying around and she doesn't want to give up anything. He spent 30 yrs with linda and they never spent a night apart (except for when he was busted for pot going into Japan and spent 8 nights in prison) . He likes to be together with his woman, he even put linda in Wings (to the detriment of the band and which made it a joke for me but it made him happy).
There's more, but that's about all I can remember from her conversations today.
So, in summary, if Heather she doesn't want him I think I'd like to take him off her hands.
Sorry ladies I saw him first, it's only fitting.

Obviously we should all take press reports with more than a pinch of salt, but there were claims in the press and on TV that Heather thought that she was just as famous as Paul and that the Beatles 'weren't that good anyway'. She allegedly objected to the fact that Paul got more publicity than she did.

Maybe we'll all benefit...perhaps they'll liquidate one of their castles and then maybe it will go timeshare!"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed and those who are cold and are not clothed."
