Is this a newer band going on tour? I am unfamiliar with them. Will check google to see if there is a link. Always enjoy trying new music or a group that I do not know

Richard Thompson has been around forever, I am the resident groupie

He was in Fairport Convention a thousand years ago, then did several albums with his then wife, Linda Thompson. When they split up he continued on his own.

He is a brilliant songwriter/guitar player with british folk roots. Always entertaining live. Here's a blurb:

While still a teenager, he founded and led Fairport Convention, which was to British folk-rock what the Byrds were to the idiom's American equivalent-meaning more Childe ballads and less sunshine.

Richard Thompson, who was recently described in Rolling Stone as the "Thinking Man's Guitar God", is among the most distinctive of guitar virtuosos, capable of breathtaking drama and sublime delicacy, depending on the song and the amp setting.

Over the course of his career, Thompson has earned numerous awards and honors, including the Ivor Novello Award for songwriting, the Orville Gibson Award for guitarists, and a spot in the Top 20 of Rolling Stone's list of all-time Guitar Greats. Thanks for posting this, I will pass it on to DH who would not have known about it until it was sold out........
He should not be going either since I will be away, and we still try to leave one of us at home for Those Kids, but I don't think he will let that stand in the way...and I can't blame him!

He can go to the show in Montclair on the 22nd, won't be out late. I wouldn't let Those Kids keep him from going.

He can try the "I'm going out to grab a bite, back in a few minutes" trick

I am going to try to catch him in SFO.

eta: Irene, I just took a look at the Wellmont listings - they get some great shows -- Michael Franti and Spearhead 10/29, among others...
