I didn't know that you could play any DVDs (non-game) on the Wii. Have you tried playing the disc on your computer?

No, you can't play a DVD on a Wii. You can play it on a Playstation 2 and possibly a Playstation 3. Or it should play on most computers without a problem. No DVD player?

I don't have a DVD player on my computer.
I DO have a DVD player attached to DHs TV- now the question is - does he remember how to use it?
DS recently showed him (the same weekend I was tutored on Wii/Netflix) so I hope he remembers.

Most disk drives on computers will play a DVD--you don't have a disk drive? You might not think of it as a DVD player, but most of them can handle a DVD just fine.

With the DVD that's attached to the TV, you can always call DS and get coached through it. But the key is usually finding the right channel where your video feed is going. That's probably NOT the same channel as your Netflix feed goes. On ours we get Netflix on Video 2, and the DVDs, VCR (yes, we still have one), and the TV's own digital "broadcast" feed come in on Channel 3. The other TV gets everything except Netflix on Video 1. Some TVs/DVD players need you to hit a button on your remote to get the DVD to show up.

I am proud to report that DH WAS able to get the TV/DVD working correctly and we just watched Lady Gaga

                THANK you Irene!
Wack, we have the DVD/TV/Home Theatre in one room and the TV/Wii/Netflix in another.
I have a Netbook with no disk drive and we just took DHs new ipad out of the box - that is tomorrows techno challenge fr me.
DS is giving me his old Apple Laptop s I will have something with a disk drive and a BIG screen.
My Netbook also "sabotages" anything I plug into it - mouse, printer, card reader - s it will be nice to have something more reliable.

I will reserve the Netbook for travel only soon.

Very proud of you and DH! I have a netbook, too, but I have a hand-me-down external disk drive from a techie friend.
