Richard Thompson name Officer of the Order of the British Empire

I have always wondered whether this means more than "you bring a lot of tax dollars to our coffers." Still, pretty cool for my favorite singer/songwriter/guitarist:


Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
has named RICHARD THOMPSON
to the 2011 Honours List as an
Officer of the Order of the British Empire.

The honour will be bestowed by The Queen
during an Investiture Ceremony at
Buckingham Palace 28 June 2011.

DH will feel personally vindicated (since all my faves have been made "Sirs" ).
And yes IMO it is often about the bucks, but in this case I'm thinking mere talent has come through.
