That's pretty much what hubby said. It was a shock to me because all I knew about her were her songs and voice, which were a blessing to so many.

I don't think it's the talent or related personality that burns people up (Bach and many great talents in history were fairly balanced). I think it's something about our culture that's not healthy for some of our most creative people. Whatever it may be, so sad that Whitney Houston got caught in it.

show business is rough. It's all too common for folks to go down the drug path and not find their way back. Whitney was very young when her fame started. And so she sampled some of the things that fame provided. anyone can become an addict if they get involved with addictive things.

Regardless of the actual cause of death, it is a shame, and a loss. I am sad but not surprised. her downward spiral was made very public when she and bobby had that reality show. I had not followed her since those embarrassing days.

Robert Downey Junior is one of my faves and I have always hoped he could get clean and stay clean. With each new movie he does, I get that much more optimistic. but, they don't all get away from teh drugs, the lifestyle, the "friends" that got them into the bad habits to start with ... all it takes is one irresistible temptation to ruin months of rehab and start down the slope again.
