  • Beach Boys Tour

The Beach Boys are touring this year. Any else enjoy their music?

How could the "Malibu Beach Barbie" not enjoy Beach Boy music?

Depending on venue and time of year I would entertain going to see them. Growing up with AM radio and 2 ton cars and the Beach Boys. Memories.

      Sure, we all did.

Too bad they are going to ruin their legacy. They were pathetic on the Grammys, robotic and uninspiring, and would have been a disaster without the prop-up they got from the younger tribute performers. Let's just call it like it is, they are old and outta practice. Well, I doubt that practice will help, because surely they prepared a bit for the Grammys.

This coming from one who sees far-too-many has-beens trying to stretch their run.

I've see them several times but I don't think I'd see them again. I saw Brian Wilson by himself on Jay Leno and it was sad, very sad. shaggy

We have seen them many times and I have their CDs. We would not make an effort to go and see them now. I have seen too many artists that are a way past their prime.

The logistics of a concert tour will be horrendous, what with their audience having to eat dinner by 4:00 and be in bed by 8:00. Then, about half the seating will have to be handicap, for those with walkers, wheelchairs and Hoverounds.

In the winter, the concerts will have to be over by 6:00, cuz audience members probably should not be driving at night.

Oh, wrong, I see it's already been figured out. Here's their first concerts:

Our Lady of the Lake Senior Center
Our Lady of the Sea Senior Center
Our Lady of the Woods Senior Center
Our Lady of the Bay Senior Center
              . . . .

We saw the Beach Boys (or really half of the original group) a few years back. The venue was the Wente Winery. We took our two, then teen-age, dds with us. We all loved it. Sure, they're not the same as they used to be, but who among us is.

So, generally speaking, we try not to do the same things we did when we were 20, cuz we know how foolish we would be.

But sometimes we do them better.

On year we were at the Fairfield (now Wyndham) Ocean Walk and after we got there found out there was a great air show which we could watch from our balcony. In the evening there was a Beach Boys concert at the band stand and we got to enjoy it for free from our balcony.

They did a free concert here in Wilkes Barre, PA about 5 - 6 years ago. The city was celebrating a milestone birthday. The concert was originally scheduled as part of 4th of July festivities, but that was cancelled due to a significant flood threat. The outdoor park where it was to be held was a mud bog and I remember we had to evacuate our home for several days. They did reschedule and come back later that season. The concert was OK, but I'd rather remember them in their prime.

Seriously, who likes to be reminded how much WE have aged....

Saw them at a free, impromptu concert in 76 on a California campus. It was fun for me, fun for them. "Cool" to see them hop in their convertibles and drive off waving...
