I'm hearing lots of great things about the PBS series Downton Abbey. I think it's in season 3 already, do I need to catch-up by watching seasons 1 and 2 first?
YES!!! We got Netflix just so we could do that. Gives you a richer background on all of the characters by watching from the beginning. This past season, I was excited to hear my ancestors name mentioned (Anstruther)! My great great grandfather's birth certificate shows his father's occupation as "gentleman." Now where all of the $$ and estate went is another matter for research...
Season 3 is over so you have lots of time to catch up. You can get it on iTunes, we did that with the first two seasons and watched them marathon-style before Season 3 started. I think you'll love it. Maggie Smith is wonderful and she has some really great lines. Great cast all around.

I just joined Amazon Prime so I could stream the first two seasons....watched it as Glitter did...and loved it.
Have also purchased season 3 and have it downloaded to my iPad.
I just LOVE this series and YES, watch season 1 & 2 first.
My daughter has been a fan since the beginning. I mostly ignored it as background noise. Enter three weeks of time off during Christmas. We are searching Netflix and Amazon and watching season 1 and 2 marathon style as everyone else has noted. I was "caught up" just in time for Season 3. Do it Maria!
Just to note, after I marathoned seasons one and two for free on Amazon Prime, I was able to watch season three for free on PBS.org but it was no longer free ( or available ?) after March 3rd. I purchased season three so DD and I could watch together while on a trip.
I also got into Downton Abby late....I watched the first season on Netfix, and the second season on hulu for free. We had a marathon weekend, at my house before season 3 started.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I've been hearing great things as well. Let us know what you think of it, yes? We're plowing through Bones at the moment, but I'm thinking about going after that next time it's my turn.
