In The Travels of a T-shirt in a Global Economy, Pietra Rivoli traces the origins of an ordinary T-shirt around the world on a journey that takes her from the cotton fields of Texas to the textile manufacturing operations throughout China. She subsequently discovers the fate of a donated T-shirt, ending her adventure in an open air market in Tanzania. This book brings to life the social and environmental aspects of globalization, providing an opportunity to consider how engineering work is connected to other fields.
I'm reading the "Tiki Goddess Series" by Jill Marie Landis. Silly, fun mysteries loosely based on the Tahiti Nui Bar on Kauai. I always try to pick a book based in the area I'm visiting and this first one was fun..I'll read the next two also.
If you, or anyone else has any interest in reading books based in Hawaii. I highly recommend the authors Alan Bremmert and Kiana Davenport. Historical fiction.
Ooohhh...I just looked up Alan Bremmert and see that he has another book out titled "Palisades Park" an ode to youth in New Jersey. Just based on his previous two books-I will definitely read that.
