I really enjoyed the new Harry Potter book

But for those of you who can't take the time to read it, the full plot is posted on Wikepida.org.

I've seen several of the movies, but haven't read the books. Maybe I should start as people say that the books are really a lot better than the movies. I guess I need to start with the first one since the same people seem to be in them, right?

Yes, you need to start from the beginning. This is not a series you can, or would want to, jump in somewhere in the middle.

What I think is wonderful is that I've seen discussions on the last Harry Potter book on just about every site where I usually post (and they range in interest). The book was also a major source of discussion around our dining room table last night. Although we got interested in them through our older dd (who was 10 I think when she started reading them and is now 19) they are definitely books that can be read and enjoyed by all ages.

We are a family of 5 and bought 2 of the books. Looking back now it seems silly that we spent an extra $19 to get a second copy. Both books were read by Sun at 6pm but I don't think that we were both reading anymore than 6 hours.

We could have bought one and save the cash.

We bought two of the books as well. There is no way our family of four could have existed on just one. At least this is better than one of the earlier books where we ended up with three! (One of those ended up being donated to the library and they were delighted to get it.) The books always seem to be released around the time of older dd's birthday. So, it's always an easy gift for her, and then it becomes her book. The other copy, while theorhetically a family copy, will probably live in younger dd's bookshelf. Older dd is already planning on saving the set and passing them down to her children.

            Love Harry Potter!

I actually had it on preorder with $5 deposit at toysrus but didn't need to pick it up because our local library had it waiting for us on the day of release! So I'll have to remember to go back to TuysRUs and get back my deposit. We had put my son on the library waiting list months ago but really didn't think they'd have it for us as there were hundreds in the queue.

Much to our delight, we logged into his card on Sat and there it was on hold for him at the library so we popped in the car and picked it up.

I let him go first and he finished it by the next day. It then took me over 2 days just to sneak time here and there and reading into the wee hrs of the morning. Who needs sleep?!?

Now that it's finished, what are we going to do with all our spare time???

What I think is so wonderful that JK Rowling's Harry Potter introduced a vast number of people to reading. Kids, and adults even, who claimed not to enjoy reading have become engrossed in Harry and his world. I've seen folks of all ages carrying the latest book around, and it seems that every message site where I post there is discussion going on about the latest book. I hope the nonsense is never over.
